The BFF Team was saddened to hear the news of Dolly Parton’s passing at the age of 80 yesterday, 8/25/26. Her sharp wit, incredible talent, and ability to see the inner beauty in every person will be a positive influence on generations to come.

Dolly spent her life dedicated to philanthropy, supporting many causes that are close to our hearts here at BFF. Even in death, she requested that any money you may have spent on flowers be donated to her charity Imagination Library. Dolly, thank you for the light you brought to this world, you deserve to rest easy knowing the impact you had on so many millions of people.

If you’re able, we’ll leave a link below to donate to Imagination Library, which works towards inspiring children to read by providing kids under 5 a free book every month.

🦇 JOIN US for the WORLD PREMIERE of Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires at the 42nd Annual Boston Film Festival at the Boch Center Wang Theater, Friday September 18!

🎸 This highly anticipated music documentary from director Daniel E. Catullo III, 10 Lives Studios, is about friendship: the unlikely bond between artists from very different worlds who discovered a shared sanctuary in music. It explores what happens when people who have spent much of their lives surrounded by fame find a place where none of that matters. Onstage, they aren't an iconic shock-rock pioneer, one of the world's most recognizable actors, one of the greatest guitarists of his generation, and a renowned musician and producer. They are simply bandmates.

⚰ A special Q&A with Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Tommy Henriksen and director Daniel Catullo will follow the screening.

We are so excited to celebrate pop culture, film, and art with you this weekend at FAN EXPO Boston!

Swing by the Boston Film Festival booth on the convention floor to talk cinema and see what we have in store for this year. Our incredible Animation Programmer, Ava Boo, will chat with you about animation.

While you're there, be sure to watch SnowBear! Created by master animator Aaron Blaise, this moving story of a lonely polar bear finding friendship was beautifully hand-drawn over three years. It's an absolute must-see with 26 wins and 12 nominations (including the Boston Film Festival 2025 Best Animated Film).

Catch it at the animated shorts screening tonight at 8:30 PM in Level 0, Hall C.
