- Virtual 9/22~ 10/11🍁 Founded in 2019, the Taiwan Film Festival of Boston (TFFB) is a non-profit organization that strives to foster cross-cultural connection amongst its communities within Taiwan, North America, and beyond through the showcasing of compelling stories that revolve around poignant topics of growth, identity, discovery, and adventure. By bringing in Taiwanese films that are rich in authenticity and multiplicitous diversity, TFFB aims to highlight the cultural beauty of Taiwan as a nation brimming with international flavors and transcendent artistry. With poignant screenings and engaging panel discussions featuring the creators behind Taiwan’s most celebrated films, we aim to show how Taiwan is a cultural and cinematic powerhouse that empowers audiences and filmmakers– both young and old, international and domestic– to establish a multi-national community filled with unceasing love, understanding, compassion, and above all, meaningful conversation.

Following veterinarian Liao Kuan-Chih through his daily practice, the film gently witnesses the final chapter shared between pets and the families who love them. As owners grapple with the difficult choice of continuing care or saying goodbye through home euthanasia, moments of uncertainty, grief, and quiet devotion unfold before the camera. With remarkable sensitivity, the documentary explores what it truly means to love, to honor life with dignity, and to find the courage to let go when the time comes.

Facing a shortage of clinical training options in Taiwan, young midwife Kai-Lin Tang travels to a traditional Puli clinic to learn from a veteran practitioner. Immersed in late-night routines across generations, she uncovers a fading birthing culture while quietly confronting her own uncertain future. This intimate short film captures the profound emotional realities of family care and bodily memories at risk of being forgotten.

From powerful documentaries and intimate family stories to inspiring human journeys, this year's festival brings together a diverse lineup of films, special guests, and community events.

In addition to the screenings, we'll be bringing Taiwanese stories to theaters across Boston, with special appearances from filmmakers and artists including Ariel Lin (林依晨), Julian Chou (周美豫), Kelly Chen (陳慧如), and Damien Fan (范家銘) to engage in conversation beyond the movies.

Can't make it to Boston? The celebration continues online! In collaboration with the New Taipei City Government and Giloo, TFFB brings 10 Taiwanese films to audiences around the world through a virtual film festival. Headlined by films including Late Life: The Chien-Ming Wang Story and Let the Wind Carry Me, and many others.
