In the conversation, I reflect on my path as an independent filmmaker and festival director, the experiences that have shaped my work, and my latest feature film, Prayer Vincent Van Gogh. 🌻🎨

This film became a very special journey — traveling from Provence to Northern France, following in Vincent van Gogh’s footsteps and filming in places connected to his life and art.
From Arles, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence to Paris, Auvers-sur-Oise, and Mont Saint-Michel, every location became part of a larger journey about filmmaking, creativity, and connecting stories across borders.

2026년 코믹월드 광복전 행사(8월 15~16일)에서도 김치워리어 코스프레가 등장해 현장 관람객과 온라인 커뮤니티에서 큰 웃음과 주목을 받았습니다. 광복절이라는 특별한 테마와 한국을 대표하는 ‘K-푸드’ 김치를 모티브로 한 캐릭터의 절묘한 만남으로 참관객들 사이에서 화제가 되었습니다.

절묘한 타이틀 매치:
광복절을 기념하는 행사의 취지와 국산 애니메이션 캐릭터라는 김치워리어의 정체성이 절묘하게 맞아떨어졌습니다. 현장 후기와 온라인 커뮤니티에서는 “아직도 김치워리어를 아는 사람이 있냐”, “반가우면서도 킹받는다” 등의 재미있는 반응이 이어지며 독보적인 존재감을 보여주었습니다.

전통 테마와의 조화:
행사장에는 광복절을 맞아 태극기, 독립군, 한복 등 다양한 코스프레가 등장했습니다. 그 사이에서 초록색 의상과 배추 모양의 머리를 한 김치워리어 코스프레는 특유의 유쾌하고 이색적인 분위기를 더하며 관람객들의 시선을 사로잡았습니다.

At the 2026 Comic World Gwangbokjeon event, held August 15–16, a Kimchi Warrior cosplayer made an appearance, drawing plenty of laughter and attention from attendees and online communities. The combination of the special Korean Liberation Day theme and a character inspired by kimchi—one of the most recognizable symbols of K-food—made Kimchi Warrior an unexpected highlight among visitors.

A Perfect Match for the Occasion:
The spirit of the Korean Liberation Day event matched surprisingly well with Kimchi Warrior’s identity as a homegrown Korean animation character. Reactions from attendees and online communities included comments such as, “Does anyone still remember Kimchi Warrior?” and “It’s great to see him again, but somehow he’s hilariously annoying,” showing that the character still has a un

At the 2026 Comic World Gwangbokjeon (August 15–16) in Korea, Kimchi Warrior cosplay drew plenty of attention and laughter. 🇰🇷
The Korean Liberation Day theme made it a perfect match for a homegrown Korean animation character inspired by Korea’s iconic food — kimchi.

스브스뉴스 영상 이후, 많은 한국 시청자분들이 다시 김치워리어를 찾아와 주고 있습니다.
이 다큐멘터리는 2009년 김치워리어가 어떻게 탄생했고, 왜 논란과 혹평을 받았고,
그럼에도 어떻게 15년 동안 포기하지 않고 이어왔는지 담은 리마스터 버전입니다.
초기에는 낮은 완성도와 기괴한 설정 때문에 조롱·악플을 많이 받았습니다.
심지어 안티팬이 생기고, ‘밈(meme)’으로까지 소비되기도 했습니다.
하지만 시간이 지나 중국의 ‘김치 공정’ 논란 이후,
많은 사람들이 김치워리어의 의도와 메시지를 다시 보게 되었고
예전 비판자들까지 “그때 너무 심하게 욕했다”며 팬이 되어 돌아오는 변화가 일어나고 있습니다.

This is the remastered mini documentary(Web Doc) about Kimchi Warrior,
a Korean web animation created in 2009 by director Young Man Kang.
Although the series won international awards, it was heavily criticized in Korea for its low-budget visuals and unusual story concept.
Over time, it became a meme, and many viewers mocked or dismissed it.
However, years later—especially after the “Kimchi origin dispute” with China—
people began to reevaluate the project.
Many former critics have returned, admitting,
“I was too harsh back then,” and have become supporters.
This 6-minute documentary shows:
How Kimchi Warrior was created
The challenges during production
Why the creator continued despite massive criticism
And why the series is now being rediscovered 15 years later.
