Hans Christian Andersen’s The Shadow is Mixed eMotion Theatrix’s bold, new family production (ages 8+) that reimagines Andersen’s dark fairy tale for a modern world. Blending puppetry, original music, projections and dance this inspiring dance musical transforms a mysterious tale about a man’s Shadow who takes over his life into a thrilling journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and redemption. Working with Cape Town based Puppet Designer, Janni Younge the show is a two time recipient of Jim Henson Foundation Grants.

“Now listen closely… our story is unfolding”. This production has been a work in progress for years, and we’re so excited to finally present it from start to finish!

As The Shadow discovers his own humanity, the puppet portraying him transforms right along with him — from an eerie, elongated shadow to a fully human-like presence.
