🎃 Did you know that the tradition of carving pumpkins for Halloween actually comes from Ireland?

It all started with an old Celtic legend called Stingy Jack. People used to carve scary faces into turnips and place candles inside to keep evil spirits away. When Irish immigrants arrived in the United States, they discovered that pumpkins were easier to find and carve. And that’s how one of Halloween’s most popular traditions was born! 👻

Here at Language Systems, Pumpkin Carving has also become one of our favorite Halloween traditions. Every year, our students and staff get creative and enjoy this fun activity together! 🎃

Our teacher is definitely one of the most creative! Just look at the Halloween costume he put together. 🎃 He never disappoints when it comes to creativity! 😂

Our students also took the opportunity to capture some fun moments and show off their costumes.💀

Take a look at what happened at our Torrance campus!

A big thank-you to everyone who shared these photos with us! ❤️

And if you live in the Torrance area and would like to improve your English, get in touch with us. We’d love to welcome you to LSI!

Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to honor Indigenous communities, their histories, and their lasting contributions to our society.

While it is observed in many places across the United States, Indigenous Peoples Day is not a federal holiday, and federal offices generally remain open.

At Language Systems International, we believe learning about different cultures helps us better understand the world and the people around us. 💜

A Weekend of Culture, Learning & Connection! 🏛️🌸

This weekend, our Torrance South Bay students had an amazing experience visiting the Getty Villa in Los Angeles, near Santa Monica!

Inspired by ancient Greek and Roman art and architecture, the Getty Villa is a beautiful museum where visitors can explore ancient history, stunning gardens, and incredible works of art in a unique setting.

Activities like this are a wonderful way to take English beyond the classroom! Students get to practice their speaking skills, learn new vocabulary and expressions, connect with classmates and their teacher, and discover one of LA’s most fascinating cultural destinations.

A big thank you to all the students who joined us and to our teacher for organizing this special experience! 💜 We love creating opportunities to learn, explore, and make memories together.
