The Leeds Scare Trails at Golden Acre Park! Two Trails, one family friendly, one not so friendly! 😈

Parking Information

🎃There are two car parks at Golden Acre Park: Otley Road and Arthington Road.
🔸The Otley Road car park is larger and is approx. 6 mins walk to the Trail entrance.
🔸The Arthington Road car park has fewer spaces and is approx. 5 mins walk to the Trail entrance

📣 this car park is also undergoing redevelopment so is even smaller than usual!📣

🚗 Parking is often limited during the Pumpkin Trail so street parking on Otley Road is permitted, however please use public trasport where possible.

🚌 There are two bus stops on Otley Road close to the entrance to the park, with the X84 between Leeds and Ilkley stopping here regularly on both Saturday and Sunday.

🎃Pumpkin Trail FAQs🎃

🎟️ Do we need to book?
No! This is not a ticketed event so there’s no need to book, you can just turn up!

💷How much is it?
The Pumpkin Trail is free to attend and most of the activities are free! This is a fundraising event, so we do suggest a donation of £2 for a trail sheet (feel free to pay more!) which gets you into the prize draw to win one of two Boo Baskets full of Halloween goodies!

🦮Can I bring my doggy?
YES! We love dogs and the park is a great place to take them. We do ask that they are kept on leads though as not everyone likes dogs and the trail is also in the area designated for dogs to be on leads.

🧭 Where in the park is the trail?
There will be plenty of signs around but it’s held in the area approx 100 metres behind the cafe, just past the private compound.

🏎️ Where should I park?
Ideally, you’ll use the very frequent X84 buses that stop right outside the park every 40 minutes but if you do need to drive!
There are two car parks at Golden Acre Park: Otley Road (approx. 6 mins walk) and Arthington Road (approx. 5 mins walk).

⏳ How long does it take?
That’s totally up to you! There are loads of activities and games along the trail, and you can go round as many times as you’d like!

💰Where do our donations go?
This is an entirely not for profit fundraising event and this year our main beneficiary is Martin House Children’s Hospice, who support children and young people with life-shortening conditions across West, North and East Yorkshire. 🧡🩷💙

‼️ FRIGHTMARE TRAIL - CANCELLED ‼️

Reminder that tonight’s Frightmare Trail has been cancelled. ❌

After conversations earlier this week with various agencies, including Leeds City Council, it was deemed unsafe to continue the event, with sustained wind forecast to exceed 45mph, gusts of over 55mph, and heavy rain expected through the day and evening.

All ticket holders were emailed on Thursday evening with information on how to claim a refund. Please check your spam folder if you have not received this.

We have hundreds of refunds to process which is taking some time to get through so please be patient with us. 🙏🏼

Please note that once processed, the time taken for money to reach your account is determined by your bank or payment provider.

We’re so gutted to not be putting on the event this year, but we have to put the safety of our visitors and volunteers first.

We hope to see you again next year!

‼️ URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT – FRIGHTMARE TRAIL CANCELLED ‼️

As you may be aware, the weather forecast for this weekend is looking increasingly severe, with strong winds and heavy rain expected from tomorrow through to Saturday night.

Today, we have been in contact with various agencies, including Leeds City Council, to assess whether the Frightmare Trail could go ahead safely. With sustained winds forecast to exceed 45mph, gusts of over 55mph and heavy rain expected throughout the event, we have made the difficult decision to CANCEL this year’s Frightmare Trail! 😔

Please be assured that this decision has not been taken lightly. The Leeds Scare Trails is entirely volunteer-run, with all proceeds supporting local charities and good causes. The Frightmare Trail is a huge part of the event, and after six months of planning, we are absolutely gutted that we cannot go ahead as planned.

However, the safety of our visitors and volunteers must always come first. Given the forecast conditions, we simply cannot guarantee that the event can be delivered safely, and we hope you understand why we have had to make this decision.

If you have already ordered tickets, you should have received an email this evening explaining what will happen to your tickets now.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your understanding and support. We know how much people look forward to the Frightmare Trail, and we are genuinely sorry to disappoint you. As a volunteer-run community event, your support means a great deal to us, and we hope to welcome you back next year. ❤️
