That’s the kind of impact a Careers Hive volunteer!💥
 
This October, we’re looking for enthusiastic STEM professionals to help inspire the next generation of young minds discover careers and pathways to them. Our volunteers play a key role in making Careers Hive the success that it is by having the most direct interactions with visitors.
 
By volunteering, you could:
🧠 Inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists, coders, makers and thinkers
🔬 Help young people understand the breadth of job opportunities open to them

Our friends at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival have just unveiled their 2026 programme 😍

Themed Bird and Beast, the festival returns from Wed 21 – Sat 31 Oct with 10 days of myths, folklore and stories from Scotland and beyond 🦊

Among this huge programme, artist Gayle Chong Kwan returns from EdSciFest 26, bringing an interactive creative restorying session to the Storytelling Festival, exploring the themes behind her installation, The Great Instauration, in the Grand Gallery of the National Museum of Scotland. Gayle will take you behind the scenes of her practice and recent work, sharing her journey through research, art, collections and archives.

If you’re in Edinburgh for the August Festivals, don’t miss our FREE outdoor photo exhibition in St Andrew’s Square Gardens in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering , ‘Engineering Better Lives’.

This exhibition showcases 50 engineers whose innovation has helped to tackle some of humanity’s greatest challenges. From radar and telecommunications breakthroughs to cutting-edge AI, wind turbines, and satellites, these engineers have shaped, and continue to shape our modern world.
