Edinburgh Deaf Festival

Edinburgh Deaf Festival 7 - 16 August 2026. Celebrating deaf arts and culture. Brought to you by Deaf Action.

12/09/2026

BSL Film Club are partnering with SQIFF to celebrate Deaf LGBTQ on-screen representation 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Join us for a special screening of Reconnection, a British Sign Language short film from local filmmaker Amy Helena.

Made as part of GMAC's Little Pictures commissioning scheme, this short film is a visual story of connection and communication.

A couple’s argument is interrupted by a blackout. In candlelight, silence gives way to honesty, helping them reconnect and bridge the emotional distance between them.

Join us afterwards for a filmmaker Q&A with Amy Helena ❤️

📅 Sunday 20 September
🕝 2:30pm
📍 Filmhouse, Edinburgh

This event will also include a screening of feature film Close to You (2023), starring Elliot Page.

Event details, accessibility information, and tickets can be found at the link in our stories or at the Filmhouse website 🎟️

This event is supported by Film Hub Scotland, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network, awarding funding on behalf of Screen Scotland and the BFI National Lottery.
