🥁 JOIN US AT THE LEITH TATTOO 🥁

The grand finale of Leith Festival is back, and you’re invited!

What started as the brainchild of the late Fred Frayling-Kelley back in 2002 has grown into one of the festival’s most loved traditions. Reviving Leith’s old custom of beating the retreat, the Tattoo brings together pipes, drums, dance, and community from across Leith and beyond.

Expect pipers, dancers, musicians, and a few surprises along the way ✨

📍 Malmaison Plaza, The Shore ⏰ 2pm, straight after the Pageant
💛 Free to attend, no ticket needed

Celebrating Leith Festival’s Heritage Day! 🧡✨

A festival that has been at the heart of Leith since 1907 🎭

What began as a fundraiser for Leith Hospital before the NHS has grown into a celebration of local culture, creativity, and community spirit. From the very beginning, the and have brought the community together.

In 2002, the much-loved Leith Festival Tattoo was introduced by the late Fred Frayling-Kelley, leader of Leith Community Concert Band ❤️ A true labour of love, Fred believed that if Edinburgh could have a Tattoo, then Leith could too. Since then it has become one of the festival’s most treasured traditions. From its very first event, the Tattoo became part of Leith Festival and now proudly serves as the festival’s closing ceremony 🎶🌊

Over the years, we’ve welcomed dancers and musicians from all over the world, celebrating both traditional and contemporary performances, alongside military and community pipes and drums 🌍🥁✨

With music, performances, workshops, food, contests, and so much more — the tradition continues over a century later ❤️
