We’ve got two fantastic DJs bringing the music across the weekend 🔥

Friday Night Freestyle: Matt Thomas

Get your weekend started with Matt on the decks for our Friday Night Freestyle! Matt has been dancing Ceroc for 14 years and DJing within the Ceroc scene for the last 4 years.

He’s already built up an impressive list of events, from Peterborough, Fleet and Vortex to Storm, Core and Hemsby Chill Weekenders, as well as DJing at Chill Champs, Northern Champs, Welsh Champs and London Champs.

A former radio DJ and a big advocate of fresh, new music, Matt loves hunting out those more challenging tracks that keep the floor interesting. He DJs both Main Room and SILC and is resident DJ at Peterborough class nights, Fleet, Vortex and Daventry freestyles.
So expect energy, variety and plenty of tracks to get you dancing! 🔥

Sunday Flava Freestyle: Jen Eddy

We have our one and only, Jen Eddy, for our Sunday Flava Freestyle! Jen started DJing in 2015 and is SILC trained, with a wealth of experience across the Ceroc scene. She’s DJ’d at weekenders, competitions, day events and a whole host of different events over the years, as well as previously taking to the decks for Welsh Champs in 2017. You’ll also know Jen as a resident CSW DJ for Dragon and Flava Freestyles 🔥 ❤️

Her musical taste covers all bases, from lyrical and expressive tracks to a great pop beat or a classic Clubland banger!

🏆 Saturday Competition Day: Jen & Matt

Saturday sees Matt & Jen joining forces!
They’ve co-created the competition music for the day, working together to create the perfect soundtrack for our competitors. You're in for quite the treat!

Matt will be behind the decks, ensuring the planned music goes smoothly and keeping the atmosphere buzzing with bursts of freestyle throughout the day, giving everyone a chance to get back on the floor, keep the energy high and enjoy the music between heats.

Aren't we a lucky bunch at Welsh Champs to have these two 🤩

🔥 Welsh Champs 2026 Judge 🔥

Our final judge announcement for 2026 – please welcome Steph Blain to our Welsh Champs 2026 judging panel! To say we’re excited about this would be a massive understatement! With 17 Open level wins, 2 Grand Master trophies, and over 90 top-three placements across various categories, Steph is at the top of her game!

Steph has been dancing for around 20 years and competing for 13 (10 years in the open division). She is also a well-known DJ across the UK, with 8 years experience – you might recognise her sets that specialise in the “SILC Filth” domain. You’ll catch her across various Ceroc weekenders on both the DJ and teaching stage, with over 5 years of teaching under her belt.

Wanting to learn what makes a great dancer? Steph, alongside her husband, Matt Blain, offer private lessons in West London and occasionally at weekenders. Make sure to get in touch! The incredible pair are both teaching next at the Big Swindon Bash on 31st October ... grab your tickets if you’re keen to attend one of their classes.

Steph will be “looking out for partnerships with a strong connection, solid technique, clean lines, and relevant musical interpretation. Show me you know the difference between social and competition dancing, and how to match your performance to the track being played. But do remember to breathe, and have fun!”

Make sure to put those top tips in your bag! We’ll see you all next weekend 😊

🔥 Welsh Champs 2026 Judges 🔥

Both incredible people and incredible dancers, next up on our 2026 panel is Lee and Dawn Perrott. With over 15 years of dancing and competing experience, Dawn has built an impressive reputation as both a performer and teacher, who is also an associate Modern Jive teacher with the UKA. Lee's dance journey spans a lifetime, with a background that includes Ballroom, Street Dance, and Modern Jive, an associate Ballroom and Street Dance teacher with the NATD and an associate Modern Jive teacher with the UKA.

Together, they have achieved more than 30 first-place finishes across Aerials, Double Trouble, Showcase, and Team Showcase categories, alongside multiple top-three results in The Open. The duo regularly teach and perform at events around the world and are familiar faces on judging panels, including the Ceroc Pan Asian Championships and German Open Jive Championships. If you want to learn from this team, get in touch for private lessons 😉

As judges, Dawn and Lee look beyond impressive moves - they value musicality, timing, connection, and the partnership between two dancers. They believe the most memorable performances come from dancers who listen to the music, communicate with each other, and truly enjoy the moment on the floor.

We’re thrilled to have this magical duo back on our judging panel for Welsh Champs 2026 – are you ready to show them what you got?

🔥 Welsh Champs 2026 Judge 🔥

Matt Blain is a prominent figure in the UK Ceroc and Modern Jive community, celebrated for his exceptional skills as a dancer, instructor, and competition judge. With over 22 years of dancing experience and over 10 years of teaching, Modern Jive remains his primary passion. He first started competing in 2011 in the Take a Chance category before winning 1st place in the Intermediate division at Blackpool in 2012 on his first attempt.

Since then, Matt has been a staple on the competition circuit, gathering various titles including current Ceroc London Champs Grand Master, winning the first-ever SILC Champs Open alongside his wife Stephanie, and holding the title of reigning SILC Champs Open JnJ Champion. His competitive record also includes Neo Blues Jack N Jill and Open Champion, WMJC JnJ Champion, Welsh Champs Top Cats and Open Champion, and South West Ceroc Champs Chill Out Open Champion—alongside numerous Lucky Dip and Pro-Am trophies.

Beyond competing, he teaches, DJs, and performs regularly at the Escape Weekenders, where he pioneered the Technical Challenge workshop aiming to push the limits of the techniques used within Ceroc. He takes huge pride in coaching through private tuition, mentoring many students who now compete and succeed at Intermediate, Advanced, and Open levels.

A big believer in conversational dancing, expressive connection, and the finer details of lead and follow mechanics, Matt brings a high level of expertise to the judging panel. As a judge, he will be looking for competitors who display strong technical fundamentals, musical interpretation, performance quality, and partners who push creative boundaries on the floor.
