Why is it so hard to find a reliable tradesperson who turns up, does a great job, and doesn't charge the earth? 😩
Back in February, I had a "brilliant" idea: leave my stressful job and run an Airbnb instead. Sounds great on paper, right?
What nobody warned me about is that dealing with tradespeople brings a whole new level of stress!
Here’s how my year has gone so far:
🔴 March: A ‘friend’ walked off the job because he took on too much. Instead of just being honest, he sparked a massive argument and bailed.
🔴 April: Hired a company https://www.facebook.com/p/BS-Exterior-and-interior-group-Ltd-61589492187028/ with glowing reviews on Mybuilder. Result? Left with unsafe work, thousands of pounds in debt, and a bruised ego after falling for a charmer’s big promises.
🔴 October: Used a local recommendation for MP Property https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61594913524071 to get the ensuite shower finished. He did part of the work, hasn't come back, and is officially ghosting me. 👻
This has been going on all year and the Airbnb is STILL not finished. FFS. I’m honestly at breaking point.
Is it just me, or is everyone dealing with this nightmare? Am I just incredibly unlucky, or have you been through the same thing?
👇 Drop your horror stories in the comments so I know I’m not alone - or even better - give a shout-out to the GOOD, honest tradesmen and women who actually show up and do the job!
