Thank you all for being part of PLEX 2026! 🙌🫶

Whether you are local or came from across the country, thank you for sharing the PLEX weekend with us. This year, dancers from British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and of course Alberta attended PLEX. Seeing you all from so many different communities come together is what makes an event like this special.🤩

A huge thank-you to the musicians who filled our weekend with incredible live music: 👏

PLEX wouldn't have happened without the many people working behind the scenes! 🫰 Thank you to our outdoor crew, decorating crew, bar staff, front-of-house volunteers, venue monitors, food crew, clean-up crew, drivers, competition coordinators and judges, game coordinators, and everyone who volunteered their time throughout the weekend. 💜

👉 A special thank you to Cameron for sound, outdoor setup, driving, and more! Shout out to Russell as well for all your outdoor help this weekend. Thank you to hosts who opened their homes to our out-of-town guests, and to our photographer Vitalii for capturing the magic of the weekend.

🌙 PLEX weekend starts TOMORROW! 🎶🌿

🤩 We're ready for a full weekend of dancing, live music, contests, pancakes, and midsummer magic, and are looking forward to seeing you all on the dance floor! ✨

☀️ Outdoor events update:

The forecast is looking better than it was earlier this week, but the weather is changing all the time. We're still planning for our outdoor dance events to happen!

If the weather becomes unsuitable, we'll relocate indoors. Please keep an eye on updates from the organizers and on our social media for the latest information.

We’re pleased to welcome Joel "Spanky" Gray Sextet for our Sunday afternoon dance. 🎶

An Edmonton-based trumpeter and music educator with more than 30 years of experience, Joel has performed with artists including Tommy Banks, PJ Perry, Diana Krall, and The Temptations. He is a regular collaborator with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and has contributed to Juno-nominated and Juno-winning recordings.

In addition to his performing career, Joel has been a dedicated music educator for decades, helping develop the next generation of musicians in Alberta and beyond.

Featuring: Joel “Spanky” Gray, Brad Shigeta, Noah Gotfrit, Tony Flanagan, Alex Moxon, Jacob Do.

Join us for an afternoon of live music and dancing as we enjoy the final day of the PLEX weekend. ☀️

We’re excited to welcome Jacob Do Quintet at our Sunday night dance. 🎶

Featuring: Brad Shigeta, Mboya Nicholson, Noah Gotfrit, Dan Skakun, and led by saxophonist, composer, and educator Jacob Do Music, whose resonant and nuanced sound lends itself to emotional storytelling through improvisation. 🎷

A graduate of McGill University’s Jazz Performance program, Jacob has worked with renowned Canadian musicians including Rémi Bolduc, André White, and Christine Jensen.

We’re looking forward to closing out the weekend with live music from the Jacob Do Quintet. 🤩
