🐾 DAY 1 — COMPLETE! 💙

Day 1 of our 3-Day Law Enforcement K-9 Workshop was a complete success!

Our handlers spent the day learning more about their K-9 partners—their strengths, how they think and work, and the things handlers can do differently to help their dogs become even more successful in the field.

Some handlers even got the chance to experience training from the other side, putting on a decoy suit and feeling firsthand what their K-9 sees, how they engage, and how the handler’s actions can impact the dog’s performance. It gave them a whole new perspective on their partners!

One of the biggest things we learned yesterday was just how rare opportunities like this really are.

Law enforcement K-9 teams don’t often get the chance to participate in this type of specialized training, especially alongside handlers and K-9s from other agencies. The opportunity to train together, exchange ideas, learn from one another and work through real-world challenges is invaluable.

A HUGE thank you to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office for their hospitality and efforts to help make all of this possible. 💙

Seeing agencies open their doors and welcome K-9 teams from across the state to train together is what this is all about. Different uniforms, different departments, but one common goal—making every handler and every K-9 team better, stronger and safer when they return to their communities.

This is what supporting our law enforcement K-9 teams looks like, and we are incredibly proud to be a part of it.

🎉🐾 Happy Birthday to K9 Stitch of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office! 🐾🎉

Stitch made an impressive showing at last year’s Treasure Coast Police K9 Competition, and we can’t wait to see him back on the field—just a little older, a little wiser, and ready to show us what he’s got! 💪🐕‍🦺

In Memory of K-9 Bane

It is with heavy hearts that the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of retired K-9 Bane.

K-9 Bane faithfully served our agency and the citizens of Indian River County for eight years alongside his handler, Sgt. Jacob Curby. As a dual-purpose K-9, Bane played an important role in numerous operations throughout his career, assisting with narcotics seizures, suspect apprehensions, and the capture of felony offenders.

For eight years, Bane stood beside his handler and served our community with courage, loyalty, and dedication. His service made an impact that will not be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to Sgt. Curby, his family, and all those who had the privilege of working alongside Bane throughout his career.

Rest easy, Bane. Thank you for your faithful and dedicated service. You will be missed.
