Sound and Gravity is pleased to welcome LA-based composer Gregory Uhlmann to the stage, Saturday September 5th, closing out the night 10:30pm at Judson & Moore 🌀🐚✨

Extra Stars is a deeply beautiful expression of Gregory Uhlmann’s ever-evolving sound world, and comes at a pivotal juncture in the LA-based composer, producer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist’s musical journey.

Following a long run of supporting work with artists like Perfume Genius, Resavoir, and Tasha, Uhlmann has spent the better part of the last couple years trotting out album after album of groundbreaking instrumental modern music.

From the sparse melodies and hushed ambient soundscapes of Small Day, to his much-lauded duo outing Doubles with Meg Duffy, to his perhaps lesser-known but no-less-brilliant duo record Water Map with Dustin Wong, to the lush chamber-jazz interplay of his trio recording with saxophonist Josh Johnson and bassist Sam Wilkes, Uhlmann has subtly established himself as an essential presence in some of the most progressive recordings of our time. 🦅🪚🚣We’re lucky to be hosting Albuquerque-based folk duo A Hawk and A Hacksaw at this year’s festival. 
 
Composed of fringe folk scene mainstays Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost, the duo draws from Balkan, Turkish and Eastern European traditional music, blending these with American folk stylings to create something completely new with a mythology all its own. Slide 2 is the duo playing in Poland last year.

✨🎃🍊Chicago!!! We’re pleased as punch to host the inimitable Otto Benson at our festival this year. His 2025 album 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘵 has been on repeat for us since its release in late December.  
 
Drowsy, keenly melodious and gorgeously sparse guitar compositions wend and wave against Otto’s gentle vocal contemplations that we find perfect for morning waking hours and late night pensive walks. Simply the best.  
  
If you missed Otto at Sleeping Village last month, you can still catch the beautiful breeze here in Sunday, September 6th at .

Legendary multi-instrumentalist and composter Tyondai Braxton will be making an appearance this year at Sound and Gravity - we’re feeling super grateful about it! 
 
Beyond his solo composition catalog, you may already be familiar with Braxton’s work in the legendary experimental rock project Battles.  
 
Tyondai’s composition work deals in stuttering rhythm, head-spinning time switches, hypnotic textures, and we’re so lucky we get to see it LIVE! 
 
Look out for his new record Splayed Werks due in August out on Erased Tapes.

Ami Dang is a vocalist, sitarist, composer and DJ that blends elements of traditional North Indian classical music with the heady fringes of electronic music.  
Dang creates rich sonic worlds to sink into, drawing from trance, drone, and sitar composition, melding her deeply moving vocal performances with elements of dance-pop and a palate of noise experimentation.  
With lyrics sung in Punjabi and English, Dang situates herself between cultures and time periods, bringing traditional raga and Indian composition into a contemporary context of both popular and experimental electronic music.

Chicago trio Black Duck conjoins three legendary mainstay musicians of the local scene, guitarist/bassist Doug McCombs, guitarist Bill MacKay and drummer Charles Rumback.  
The trio lay down brooding, languid compositions, with meandering guitars that drone and soar over a rolling tumbleweed landscape of percussion. The trio draws from living textures of the natural world, forging melodies that breathe, crescendo, wane, and burst with energy, leaning on the spirit of improvisation rooted in familiarity with eachother’s playing.  
 
Oaken acoustics and steady grooves are intercepted by fuzzed-out, wandering guitar leads, evoking the desolate and sweeping landscapes of America. Some are saying this is a “dream trio” and we whole-heartedly agree. 
 
Fans of Pullman, SUSS, and North Americans will delight in the dusty, mercurial world of Black Duck.

Mark your calendars - On Sunday, September 6th at 9pm, NYC-based folk mage Dagmar Zuniga will be weaving her Tascam dreamscape live in concert at .   
  
Her debut album “in filth your mystery is kingdom / far smile peasant in yellow music” is one of our favorite releases from this year - gentle flutes, warm synth pads and hypnotic acoustic textures paired with surrealist lyrical reflection reveal a gorgeously delicate and intimate sketch of the artist’s inner world.
