Chicago was born at the intersection of bustling rivers and the Great Lakes. Come celebrate with us the maritime culture of Chicago, Lake Michigan and the seas beyond, with songs, stories, workshops and celebrations at the 13th Chicago Maritime Festival. gram to area schools, libraries, and senior centers give a glimpse into maritime history, sea music, underwater archeology, naval shipping, weather forecasting, model boat building for kids, safety at sea, and much more! Rita and Ralph Frese were iconic members of our maritime community, two of the best friends we’ve ever had, and great supporters of the festival. Ralph passed in 2012. We just lost Rita yesterday. She was simply one of the most kind and loving people one could ever come across.
