PHOTOVILLE – New York City’s FREE premier photo destination produced by United Photo Industries – is a modular venue built from re-purposed shipping containers. By creating a physical platform for photographers of all stripes to come together and interact, Photoville provides a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse audience – a veritable cross-section of the world photographic community. Immersion and interactivity are at the heart of what makes Photoville such a successful and popular event – allowing it to become the largest annual photographic event in New York City, and among the most-attended photographic events nationwide. Photoville’s 3rd edition took place from September 18 – 28, 2014 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and welcomed over 71,000 visitors. Working with more than 80 curatorial partners such as Instagram, The NY Times, TIME Magazine, National Geographic, The Pulitzer Center, the Magnum Foundation, and so many more, Photoville exhibited work by 400 visual artists. Comprised of 62 exhibitions, 45 talks & workshops, 7 night-time events in an outdoor beer garden, Photoville was entirely FREE to attend, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience thought-provoking, challenging, and exceptional photography from across the globe.

This year, we teamed up with our friends at PhotoWings on a collaborative, intergenerational photography project. Bridging Generations is a year-long initiative in two locations—New York City and the Bay Area—that centers on intergenerational exchange, oral history, community storytelling, and creative collaboration.

After bringing the project to Henry Street Settlement and our Photoville Festival this past Spring, we were thrilled to bring the next iteration to the Bay Area this past month. We paired local high school students with older adults who participated in a two-way learning model. Each participant brought a personal photograph and a story to share. Through sharing lived experiences and oral history interviews, participants fostered new, intergenerational connections.

Every lamb deserves a life free from live lamb cutting. Free from cruelty. This exhibit stands for the millions of lambs subjected to the cruel practice of live lamb cutting (also known as mulesing) in Australia.

The The Climate Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Garden Brooklyn Botanic Garden have partnered to present a series of paintings by Madjeen Isaak, inviting us to consider how our relationships to place and our community make us more resilient to our personal adversities, social injustices, climate change, and other challenges.

Now on display through December 1, 2026 on the Brooklyn Botanic Garden fencing alongside Washington Avenue.

Now through September 7, catch the newest iteration of our New York Proud campaign on display in Times Square, in partnership with the New York Immigration Coalition and Times Square Arts.

Now in its third year, New York Proud is a citywide public art initiative that celebrates the immigrants whose contributions are essential to New York’s culture, economy and identity. As immigrant communities face mounting hostility and uncertainty at the federal level, New Yorkers are pushing back by making visible the people, stories, and contributions that have long defined New York City.

Featuring striking portraits by Venezuelan artist and documentary photographer Oscar B. Castillo (Oscar B. Castillo) and will rotate through public spaces across the boroughs.
