The Haar + support
Friday 25th September 2026
@ The Snug Barn, Dorchester on Thames

The Haar are a stunning folk quartet will arrive at the Snug Barn for one of our WoodHQ Happenings in September fresh from playing the famous Cropredy Festival!

Named after the rolling sea fog of the North Atlantic, The Haar create music that moves with the same elemental force – shifting, enveloping and alive in the moment. Their performances are spontaneous re-imaginings of traditional songs, carrying the voices and stories of land and sea into the present.

At the heart of the ensemble is Molly Donnery’s spellbinding voice, borne on the ever-changing soundscapes of three world-class improvisers: percussionist Cormac Byrne, violin virtuoso Adam Summerhayes and accordionist Murray Grainger (of The Ciderhouse Rebellion). This is going to be a pretty special gig - you're not going to want to miss it!

Who caught the mesmerising, enchanting, hauntingly brilliant Coburn on the Wood Stage at Wood Festival last weekend? Wasn't she brilliant!? Yes she was! And here's the great news... you can see her again at a Wood HQ Happenings event next year. We've booked her to play the Snug Barn at Bishop's Thorp Farm in Dorchester on Thames.

“Absolutely genius” - Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6 Music)

Just like her musical heroes and heroines Serge Gainsbourg, Scott Walker, Joni Mitchell, Neil Hannon, Rufus Wainwright, Liza Minelli and David Bowie, Amelia Coburn has a knack for making the unusual sound timeless.

“Songs that feel like centuries old fairy tales” - Shindig! Magazine

Drawing inspiration from gothic literature and the shadowy allure of film noir, there is a darkness at the heart of many of her songs, populated by vivid characters and nocturnal creatures that inhabit the liminal space “between the moon and the milkman”.

Her Bill Ryder-Jones produced debut album gained a cult following, including praise from British music legends Paul Weller and Paul Heaton - as well as national radio play across BBC Radios 2, 3, 4, 5, 6music, Scotland, Ulster and Introducing in the North East.

Amelia’s honest, occasionally hilarious and quintessentially north-eastern persona disarms and beguiles in equal measure: this is art without artifice.

It might be a while off, but tickets are already selling, so get yours while you can!

For the last three years a wonderfu family have been coming to Wood Festival and cooking up pancakes for brekkie in the campsite. 🥞 Though theirs are no ordinary breakfast pancakes; the first batch were damselfly shaped (😮 I know, right!?), then came the bats 🦇, and this year they served up lizards! 🦎 So much fun! And also reassuring to hear that no endangered creatures have been harmed in the batter-y process! 😋 Wonder what they’ll be cooking up next May - should we put it to the vote again!? Stay tuned to find out over on the WoodHQ.org mailing list. 📩
