Three days of exhibitions, workshops, walks, talks and creative exchanges celebrating street art, graffiti and the communities that make our cities creative.

This year, we’re bringing together artists, collectives and creative practitioners from Nottingham, across the UK and around the world to explore what it means to build a city for artists.

Art Fest is run on a not-for-profit basis by a small team, with the support of artists, volunteers and our creative community. This year, we’re also raising funds to create artwork in a local homeless shelter.

Some events are free, others are ticketed. Every ticket, donation and bit of support helps make this possible.

OUR 2026 THEME: BUILD A CITY FOR ARTISTS

Cities run on creativity. But who looks after the people making it happen?

This year, we're asking what it would take to build a city for artists, not one that simply benefits from their work. A city where creative organisations have the resources they need, where people are supported to sustain a practice, and where art isn't just something to consume, but something that brings us together.

Rooted in Nottingham but looking further afield, our programme has been shaped by research trips to creative communities elsewhere, bringing together artists, projects and perspectives from across the UK and beyond.

PAINTED WALLS, OPEN CALL!

For Art Fest 2026, we’re inviting artists to share a photograph of a wall they’ve painted and tell us the story behind it.

It could be your first ever piece, an unsanctioned work in a hard-to-reach spot, a mural that brought people together, a wall that challenged you, or simply one that holds a special memory.

Whether it’s a mural, graffiti piece or another form of painted public artwork, we’re interested in the stories, experiences and moments that exist beyond the paint.

Submissions will be considered for an exhibition as part of Art Fest 2026.

OPEN TO ARTISTS ONLY.

DEADLINE: 1 NOVEMBER 2026, MIDNIGHT

We’ll be in touch with applicants by 9 November.

CANvas
OPEN CALL!

We’re inviting artists to turn an empty spray can into a work of art for our CANvas exhibition at Art Fest 2026.

Paint directly onto a can or submit a digital design for us to print and apply. We’ll bring the finished artworks together for a four-day exhibition at Broadway Gallery, Nottingham.

Open to artists of all disciplines. Multiple submissions welcome.

OPEN CALL — PAINT AT HOCKLEY HUSTLE

We’re looking for one up-and-coming artist to paint alongside some of Nottingham’s best mural and street artists at Hockley Hustle.

The selected artist will receive a paid commission to create an original piece on their own 7 × 7 ft board, painted live during the festival.

This opportunity is aimed at artists who are developing their practice and want to take a step into larger-scale mural and public artwork.

You don’t need a big mural portfolio. We want to see your style, your ideas and the work you’re already making.

Selected artist receives:
– Paid commission
– 7 × 7 ft painting space
– Materials provided
– A spot painting live at Hockley Hustle
– The chance to paint alongside established Nottingham artists

Are you passionate about bringing people together through creativity?

We’re hiring a freelance Community Coordinator & Facilitator to join Art Fest for Our Walls, Our Stories, a new public art programme in Mansfield.

We’ll be working with local communities to shape three new permanent murals across Mansfield town centre. The Community Coordinator will be at the heart of that process - connecting with local people, running creative workshops and gathering the stories, ideas and perspectives that will help shape the artists’ briefs.

We’re particularly keen to hear from people who live or work in Mansfield, have strong connections with local communities, and have experience in community engagement, creative facilitation or cultural engagement.

Freelance fee: £4,000
October–December 2026
