Tone Henge was germinated in the walls of The Bridge Inn, Ro)))therham, four years ago to fill specific aims. Firstly, we wished to be at a price point for entry (or free depending on venue) that was accessible to heavy music fans of any economic threshold - whilst also paying every artist on the bill. Secondly, we wished to address (partially inspired by London Doom Collective, Iron Boar Bookings
) the matter of the super heavy circuit being full of gatekeepers, and a rotation of the similar lineups. It is a fight at best for newcomers and upstarts in a niche music category to be allowed to have the opportunity to jump on a lineup - so weβve decided to tip the ratio in the Co)))mmunityβs favour, and become a festival for taste-making, with more familiar artists to hold the weight, be justly placed in prestige, and be an affordable (ticket prices) payoff headliner - rather than be utilised sell the event itself. Unless you actually become the gateway, such brilliant artists arenβt allowed to develop a real-life following for themselves, and thusly become the sought after bands that roll off the tongue in any music venue. We wish to break the self-oscillation of the top-tier, but in non-critical earnest. Lastly - we wished to establish (or join!) the extended family of like-minded Bookers and Promoters around the country that share our values of audience, musicians alike - with no focus on profit or payoff - but rather exponential growth and perpetuity of our culture. After three years exclusively in the North - we trialled a Notts event in Liquid Light Brewery to sellout results. With this, we took a breathe and have decided to reach out to all territories of the UK, to work with bastions of each area and cause a happening.
