Marc von Grundherr seems to think self-employed agents have escaped the AML obligations applying to traditional agencies. They haven't and working from a kitchen table doesn't mean operating under different laws. An extraordinary amount of condescension.

Huge implications here on several fronts. While this case is on-going Rightmove are unlikely to anything that will damage their case and defence i.e. substantial price increases.

If the claim is dismissed, they're handed carte blanche. This further strengthens their hand and would be a disaster.

If the claim is allowed to proceed, imminent price increases will again likely be held back during the course of the proceedings.

If the claim is then dismissed, we're back at carte blanche.

If the claim is upheld, who knows what happens then.

The industry is in a state of flux until it is resolved.

The portal argues that agents should each decide if they want to participate if the Competition Appeals Tribunal approves the case.
