🐾 Dogs on leads welcome The Castle is a ruin with rooms and towers to explore. It has one of only 5 nearly complete Norman Round Chapels which was re-roofed in 2019 and is now a very romantic wedding location. Ludlow Castle is open to visitors throughout the year and hosts a variety of events. There are days where we are closed or on reduced opening hours so make sure you visit our website when planning your visit. We are also home to The Castle Cafe and The Castle Gallery, which are both free to enter.

Hot food, snacks and a bar will be available on-site, but we welcome picnics so pack a blanket and camping chair and settle down for an unforgettable evening.

You can also pre-order snack bags and blankets - simply add when purchasing your tickets and they will be waiting for you to collect on arrival.

A Little Reminder – Castle Closed for the Ludlow Food Festival

The Ludlow Food Festival team have moved in to start preparations for this weekend, so we are closed to visitors from today – reopening on Wednesday 16th September.

Keep an eye out for a familiar Castle…
We’re rather excited to watch the brand new How The Tudors Lost Their Heads, which premieres this Sunday - not least because some of the series was filmed right here at Ludlow Castle!
It was a real pleasure to welcome historians and presenters Dan Snow and Professor Suzannah Lipscomb to the Castle for filming, and we’re looking forward to seeing Ludlow on screen.
The new series sees the historians investigating some of the most infamous deaths in history, following new research and evidence to uncover what really happened when powerful figures met their fate.
How The Tudors Lost Their Heads premieres Sunday 6th September from 8pm on National Geographic UK.

Ludlow Food Festival returns to Ludlow Castle from 11th - 13th September, with over 120 exhibitors and plenty more to see, taste & do 🍽️

This year, a packed programme of free live demonstrations is included with your festival ticket, spanning the Castle Kitchen, Fire Arena and Food Theatre. There’ll also be live-fire cooking, TV and local chefs, talks and tastings, hands-on workshops, live music and lots for younger foodies with a brand new programme of children's activities.

Friday night brings a different flavour, featuring entertainment including live music with popular Shropshire party band Call of the Kraken, DJs, BBQ, pizza, local beers and cocktails - creating a unique unforgettable evening experience within the walls of the Inner Bailey.

Please note that the Castle will be closed to visitors for this event, from Monday 7th – Tuesday 15th September inclusive.

☕ Chapter 66 are OPEN AS NORMAL all of next week but will be closed on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September.

A huge thank you to the Beaufort Companye for sharing their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm, and the Bowmen of Caradoc for giving us the opportunity to try our hand at archery!
