We’re over the moon to announce British singer and songwriter Paul Heaton at Live at Ludlow Castle on Saturday 17th July 2027!

As the voice and founder of The Housemartins and The Beautiful South, Paul Heaton is behind some of the best-loved songs in British pop, including ‘Happy Hour’, ‘Caravan of Love’, ‘A Little Time’, ‘Rotterdam (Or Anywhere)’, ‘Don’t Marry Her’ and ‘Perfect 10’. More than 40 years on, he’s still at the top of his game, with his new album ‘Jenius’ giving him his first solo UK No.1.

He’ll be performing songs from throughout his career, including classic tracks from The Beautiful South and The Housemartins, joined by special guest singer Rianne Downey!

FEARED: Crime, Punishment and Some Rather Unpleasant Objects

We’ve saved one of the more uncomfortable demonstrations from our Medieval Living History Weekend for the end of October!

The Beaufort Companye brought along a collection of reproduction punishment and interrogation devices, including thumbscrews, a heretic’s fork and something rather ominously named ‘the skull crusher’.

Interestingly, our reenactor James explained that many medieval punishments were more about public humiliation.

As for the other objects, he was only too happy to explain how they were intended to work. We’ve included a little of that explanation in the video, although we’ll spare you some of the more gruesome details here!

Father Christmas is proving rather popular this year! 🎅

His December diary is filling up quickly, and some of our Meet Father Christmas sessions at Ludlow Castle are already booking up.

Did you catch Ludlow Castle on National Geographic? 👀

The final episode of How The Tudors Lost Their Heads turned its attention to Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury, and we were particularly interested to see Ludlow Castle feature in the story. 🏰

Margaret Pole spent time at Ludlow Castle as part of the household of the young Princess Mary, who would later become Queen Mary I. It's a fascinating connection to one of the most turbulent periods in Tudor history, and a reminder of the important figures who once lived and worked within these walls.

It was lovely to see the Castle on screen, as Dan Snow and Professor Suzannah Lipscomb revisited this chapter of its history.
