Years ago, Lystra Doucette, the co-founder of The Soul Connection Festival, had a magical vision — to create an event that would open people’s hearts and minds to different healing methods and remind us that so much healing begins within ourselves.
With faith, love, and trust in the unknown, our very first festival was held in Mission, BC. There were reports calling for a large storm that day, yet somehow the magic was with us. The clouds parted, the sun shined brightly, and the energy shared between the vendors and participants was something truly unforgettable. People traveled from Vancouver Island to Northern Alberta to attend, and it was from that moment we realized this festival was part of our calling and purpose.
As The Soul Connection Festival has grown over the years, our message has remained the same — self-love, self-discovery, self-awareness, healing, and connection. A reminder that every person carries wisdom within themselves, and that healing is not a destination, but a journey back home to who we truly are.
Personally, my own path of self-discovery has been one of the greatest journeys of my life. It has always been my belief that the most important relationship you will ever have is the relationship you have with yourself, because it shapes your reality, the people you surround yourself with, and the direction your life takes.
I will forever remain a student of life, because there is always something new to learn, heal, understand, or rediscover. In the last six months especially, what I once perceived as truly knowing myself has revealed itself to only be the surface. My perception is shifting, my views are becoming clearer, and I am learning to hold myself with deeper compassion, grace, and love.
This festival has never been just an event to us. It is a family, a community, and a sacred space where people can come exactly as they are. A place to connect, heal, grow, and remember they are never alone on this journey.
To every vendor, healer, artist, volunteer, musician, supporter, and beautiful soul who has walked beside us over the years — thank you. Your energy, love, and presence are what continue to make this vision come alive.
