Work alongside experienced industry professionals and gain hands-on experience bringing a professional short film to life, from development and pre-production to filming and post-production.

Explore different areas of filmmaking, develop practical skills, and gain valuable insight into how the film industry works through professional mentorship and career development opportunities.

Whether your interests lie behind the camera, in the director’s chair, or in the editing room, there’s a world of filmmaking opportunities to discover.

The program is open to individuals with varying levels of experience looking to develop their skills and make new industry connections.

💛 We strongly encourage applications from people who have been traditionally underrepresented in film and television, including Indigenous, Black and other racialized people, women, 2SLGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and others who face systemic barriers within the industry.

Applicants will be selected through a transparent and equitable process focused on identifying individuals who can benefit from the training, mentorship and professional experience offered through the program.

Selected participants will work with industry professionals through the development, pre-production, production and post production of a short film. 🎥

ESFF is proud to help spread the word about this documentary screening in our community. 💚

Drawing on investigative reporting, classified and unclassified reports, and interviews with current and former military personnel, Trusted to Serve examines the persistence of racism, xenophobia, and far-right extremism within Canada’s military. The film raises urgent questions about institutional culture, accountability, and the meaning of service.

Dr. W. Andy Knight, Distinguished University Professor of Political Science at the University of Alberta, will present the screening.

Nauzanin Knight, the film’s director, is a Canadian writer, director, and producer of Afro-Caribbean and Middle Eastern descent.

Following the screening, Dr. Jared Wesley and Dr. Feodor Snagovsky will join a panel discussion exploring the film’s themes and their implications for the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian society.
