Our Beno was once the Pres of the Darlington Dipsticks (he wears many hats!). Anyway, we are sharing this for our Dipsticks mates, and hope that some of you can head down to Darlington next Saturday arvo for a really chilled afternoon on the green. Here's their blurb.

This time next week, come and groove with us at Darlington Hall!

Get ready for a great afternoon of music, classic cars, family fun and good old-fashioned car talk. Take a stroll through our fascinating display of cars from across the ages, then grab the kids an ice cream while you chat with our passionate car enthusiasts about the wheels they love.

Want to make an outing of it? Join our scenic run from Lake Leschenaultia to Darlington Hall. Meet us at the Lake (in your car) from 11.30am, where our run leaders Gail and Richard will guide everyone back to the Hall.

It’s a wonderful chance to introduce the kids to some old-school wheels and discover just how much character cars used to have!

And if you're secretly (or not so secretly!) hankering after an old car yourself, keep an eye out for the gorgeous yellow sports model for sale among the display. You certainly won’t miss it!

There’ll also be groovy little remote-control cars for the kids to have a go at, courtesy of Mal and Dave, plus light refreshments for everyone.

So polish up your sunnies, bring the family and come and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of cars, music and community at Darlo Hall.

If we could get these guys to DITF we would ..but we can't....but for all you Leonard Cohen fans who want to celebrate his life and music during the 10 year anniversary of his passing, go see these guys! Former West Oz musician Yaron Hallis and his Triple ARIA Award winning Monsieur Camembert deliver a big juicy performance of Cohen's music, with a band of consummate musicians, extraordinary vocalists, and a large local community choir. Playing the Astor Theatre on October 10. HERE'S A LITTLE HINT OF WHO IS GONNA HIT OUR STAGE IN 2026!​​​

Ben is curating the DITF lineup, as he does this time every year...checking out bands at their gigs and tryin' to figure out the best fit for our lil festival. Well, we can tell you that we got a doozy up our sleeve. And here's a little hint to get you enthused.

​They are a force of nature wrapped in velvet and fire - a voice that can haunt you one minute and hit you like a thunderclap the next.​ Known for prowling the edge between raw rock grit and smoky soul, they have lit up stages across the country with a presence that’s equal parts danger and pure allure - like the fuzz on the legs of a bee.

Most locals know the story of the infamous 1903 Hardey Road vineyard murder in what is now Glen Forrest. After being refused an illegal sale of a single bottle of w**e, French labourer Frédéric Mailliat shot vineyard owner Charles Lauffer dead during a violent attack by a drunken picnic party. What is less well known is that while awaiting ex*****on in Fremantle Gaol, Mailliat was overcome with remorse. In a letter to his family in France he wrote, "I killed a man. I am not worthy of love." More than a century later, singer-songwriter Véronique Ramén was given access to Mailliat's letter and was inspired to imagine what Mailliat might have been feeling on his final night alive before the hangman came. The result was the haunting song I Killed a Man - a reflection on guilt, regret, and the devastating consequences of a single terrible act. Ramen has recorded the song with her band Cassis, which features 2 Darlingtonians Warren Hall and Jon Edwards, both of whom have played at Day in The Forrest over the years. She also made a video in the burnt out remains of the reserve off Glen Road, Darlington.

Day in The Forrest is a Free community music festival held under the trees in Glen Forrest, WA. Featuring local WA musicians, both acclaimed and emerging, with lots of food options from yummy food trucks, accessible parking or public transport, and a licensed bar, this is a great family friendly fun...

Music. Community. Connection. 🎶🌿

We were proud to support Day in the Forrest 2025 with a $2,000 grant, helping deliver one of the only free music festivals in the Perth Hills.

With around 900 attendees, eight musical acts, local food trucks and market stalls, the event brought families and community members together for a day of music, arts and connection.

Supported by passionate volunteers and local collaborations, Day in the Forrest continues to showcase emerging and established artists while strengthening our vibrant hills community.

Community investment. Cultural impact. 💙❤️

Aww, everyone loves a baby story. And do we have a story for you! Two extraordinary people who have done so much to keep Day in The Forrest thriving in our community, have created a new human. Congrats to all-round amazing humans Ben and Ash, who welcomed little Art into the world on Sunday December 21, 2025. Hip hooooray!
