An annual film festival of the best Jewish-themed cinema from across the globe. JIFF is proud to build on the great tradition established by the JFFA.

JIFF is the home to the most comprehensive selection of Jewish-themed and Israeli films in Australia and New Zealand. The films premiere in our annual film festival presented only in cinemas across Australia. The Jewish Film Festival is one of the longest running film festivals in Australia, operating continuously for the last 30 years. Created by the Jewish Film Foundation of Australia (JFFA), the festival is considered a pioneer of ethnic film festivals in Australia, which now form a vital and colourful part of the country's national cultural landscape. Moving Story Entertainment (formerly Champion Pictures P/L) is dedicated to the distribution of a select number of these Israeli and Jewish-themed films across all media: theatrical, educational, TV and VOD. Select titles are available for purchase on our partner cinemas' At Home platform, and ChaiFlicks. We look forward to sharing our dynamic slate of films with you.

AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE!

Starring French icon Charlotte Gainsbourg and premiering at Cannes, WOMEN ON TRIAL is the true story of a landmark French abortion case and the powerhouse Sephardi Jewish lawyer at its centre. Told in an immaculately controlled, non-linear style, this is a powerful portrait of an historic moment in the advancement of women’s rights.

See it at JIFF (Melbourne and Sydney only). Now showing until 26 November.

LATE ADDITION! Tender, funny and ultimately hopeful, WISH YOU LONG LIFE is a timely drama from Melbourne-born Jewish filmmaker Gideon Heine. Two estranged friends are brought back together by the sudden death of their best friend. As they retrace the lives they once imagined for themselves, they confront the bullying, exclusion and fear that has shaped their relationship with their Jewish identity and ask the question: what does it cost to hide who you are?

Join the cast and crew of the film at an exclusive JIFF Screening, co-presented by the Sydney Jewish Museum, featuring special guests and a post-film panel discussion.

Cannes, 1979. Francis Ford Coppola and German director Volker Schlöndorff were jointly awarded the Palme d'Or for Apocalypse Now and The Tin Drum, respectively.

This year, Schlöndorff returned to the Croisette with his latest film VISITATION (Heimsuchung), a powerful yet intimate drama that takes place over the course of the 20th century as three families bear witness to the earth-shattering events that shape the world around them.

We are excited to present the Australian premiere of Schlöndorff's ambitious new drama at JIFF this year alongside retrospective screenings of the controversial masterpiece, THE TIN DRUM (1979).

Screening throughout JIFF, on now until 26 November.

We are pleased to share that James Gray's acclaimed and electrifying drama PAPER TIGER will close out this year's festival.

Shot on celluloid and infused with a slow-burn tension that builds to an almost unbearable climax, PAPER TIGER is both a portrait of a Jewish-American family and a heart-racing thriller about how aspiration can push well-meaning people into dangerous places. Starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller.

One of our favourite parts of JIFF is the opportunity to bring people together and share a dialogue around Jewish film, culture, and what it is to be Jewish in a modern world.

This year we present a broad range of film events including Q&As, introductions and panel discussions in collaboration with supporters of the festival. Browse and book all events at the link below.
