JIFF An annual film festival of the best Jewish-themed cinema from across the globe. JIFF is proud to build on the great tradition established by the JFFA.

JIFF is the home to the most comprehensive selection of Jewish-themed and Israeli films in Australia and New Zealand. The films premiere in our annual film festival presented only in cinemas across Australia. The Jewish Film Festival is one of the longest running film festivals in Australia, operating continuously for the last 30 years. Created by the Jewish Film Foundation of Australia (JFFA), th

e festival is considered a pioneer of ethnic film festivals in Australia, which now form a vital and colourful part of the country's national cultural landscape. Moving Story Entertainment (formerly Champion Pictures P/L) is dedicated to the distribution of a select number of these Israeli and Jewish-themed films across all media: theatrical, educational, TV and VOD. Select titles are available for purchase on our partner cinemas' At Home platform, and ChaiFlicks. We look forward to sharing our dynamic slate of films with you.

In 1937, the N**i regime launched its war on modernity, branding artists like Picasso, Chagall, Van Gogh, and Matisse as “degenerate”. Their works were banned, destroyed, or mocked in grotesque exhibitions, while A***n ideals were glorified in state-sponsored shows.

Framed by a major new exhibition at the Musée Picasso in Paris, the new documentary HITLER'S BIG FEAR: THE TRIAL AGAINST DEGENERATE ART revisits this ideological assault through rare footage, suppressed artworks, and the voices of curators and survivors.

Screening across Australia for a limited time this weekend.

Oscar-winning director László Nemes (Son of Saul), draws upon his own father's personal childhood in ORPHAN, a tragic and moving chronicle of intergenerational trauma and self-acceptance.

Budapest, 1957. In the shadow of World War II and the recent failed uprising against the Stalinist government, 12-year-old Andor and his mother, Klára, are trying to get by in a damaged, anarchic country where antisemitism is still rife. Andor has grown up idolising his father – assumed to have been killed in the war – through hearing stories of his gentle nature and his work running the local Yiddish theatre. One day, an entitled, brutish butcher named Berend shows up at their door, claiming to be Andor’s real father. Could his claims possibly be true?

See it at Europa Europa Film Festival. Screening in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.

Can't get enough Kafka? From Oscar nominated Polish director Agnieszka Holland (Green Border) comes FRANZ, a kaleidoscopic biopic of the great surrealist writer. See it at its Australian and New Zealand premiere at Europa Europa Film Festival from 21 February.

Fizzing with energy and playful stylistic flair, FRANZ depicts Kafka’s adulthood – torn between the strict expectations of his father, his monotonous work life at an insurance company, and his compulsion to write.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for... 🥁 It's the JIFF Audience Awards!

Taking out the Audience Award for Best Feature is the exuberant French drama ONCE UPON MY MOTHER. You called it "the film of the festival", "heartwarming, funny and valuable", and "a film every mother will identify with and every father should learn from." In second place is father-daughter comedy THE RING with the Orthodox Jewish drama PINK LADY coming in third.

The Audience Award for Best Documentary goes to the urgent rescue story THE ROAD BETWEEN US. Barry Avrich's documentary had you "on the edge of [your] seat from beginning to end", describing it in your reviews as "gripping" and "a real life action thriller", with one JIFFgoer going so far as to call it "one of the best films I've ever seen in my life." In second place is rich music doco TYCHO! Beyond the Baton, with third place going to the Frank Lowy story, TO BE A JEW.

This year, we received an astounding 1,867 votes. Thank you so much for coming out to support the festival and for taking the time to vote for your favourites. The countdown to JIFF 2026 begins.

We are heartbroken for the lives taken and for the wounded at the devastating terror attack on the Jewish community at Bondi. A sacred moment of light has turned into darkness. Our family, the JIFF team and our cinema teams send love and Chanukah healing.
