Now back for the 29th year, the Northwest Dispute Resolution Conference is sponsored by the Dispute Resolution Section of the Washington State Bar Association, hosted by the University of Washington School of Law and open to everyone who centers conflict resolution - advocates, attorneys, trainers, educators, ombuds, mediators and arbitrators (or those interested in expanding their experience into dispute resolution practices).

Meet one of our 2027 General Session speakers: Doug Noll!

In “Nervous System Leadership in Mediation,” Doug makes a bold claim: the most essential skill for a dispute resolution professional isn’t legal knowledge or negotiation tactics. It’s the ability to regulate nervous systems. Drawing on neuroscience, he’ll show how to recognize dysregulation in the room and guide parties back to clear thinking, starting with ourselves.

A founder of the ADR field, the author of the newly published Advanced Introduction to Alternative Dispute Resolution (2026), and the person who coined the phrase “beyond the adversarial model,” she’ll ask: What is “advanced” in dispute resolution now? Meet one of our 2027 General Session speakers: Professor Homer La Rue!

Drawing on his recent Pepperdine Law Review essay, Professor La Rue will present “Reimagining the Path Forward: Mentorship, Disclosure, and Transparency in Arbitration.” He’ll look at how to sustain the arbitration profession through generational turnover, and at two paths forward: direct mentorship from senior practitioners, and targeted access initiatives like the Ray Corollary Initiative.

This year's theme, "Reimagining Conflict: A New Lens on Our Systems for Dispute Resolution," invites us to rethink how we approach conflict resolution together. Join us March 25–26, 2027, at the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle for two days of learning, connection, and practice-sharing across mediation, arbitration, negotiation, ombuds work, and restorative justice.

We're especially eager to see proposals featuring hands-on learning, workshops, and small-group breakouts — sessions that get participants actively engaged, not just listening.

🗓️ Proposals are due Wednesday, October 28, 2026, by 11:59 PM Pacific.
✅ All presenters receive a reduced $100 registration rate.
