The Dallas Area Classic Chevy club began in 1976 and are celebrating 50 years in 2026. We welcome all Tri Five Chevy enthusiasts to join!

We began and continue to be devoted to all Classic 1955, 1956 & 1957 Chevy cars, trucks and Corvettes!

With it being election day, let's look back on the Presidents of DACC over the past 50 years. These folks gave leadership and contributed to getting our '55-'57 Chevy club to an amazing 5 decades of enjoyment in N Texas for these amazing automobiles that continue today to be prized as special cars and trucks. And it is not only these folks who served as Presidents have made the club a success but many others who served in roles along the way, we thank them all!

In our club's 5 decades, some of our best memories comes from the Lone Star Classic Chevy Conventions that had a 40 year run that began in 1983. The DACC played host in 2011 and featured Tri Five Drag Racing as one of the activities and in this photo from that event, the legendary Sonny Poteet takes DACC Treasurer Marlene Graves for a spin down the drag strip in his big block blown '55 Chevy! Nobody had more fun with their Tri Five Chevy than Sonny!

Throwback Thursday this week we are in Waxahachie in 2010 for a Cruisin For Calories event. We parked on the town square and took in some calories from a fantastic diner there on the square. Club members plan to join us on Saturday, November 14th when we head to Bridgeport for another 'Cruisin For Calories' event! Those details are in your last mailed newsletter and email!

A huge thanks to our club members Dennis Gormley and Mark Billington for opening their shops to our club members to see their toys on the DACC Garage Crawl. Both were great visits and lunch at Bebo's was another treat to top off the day! More photos soon on the club website but here is a sneak peek, Mark firing up his Alcohol Funny Car for everyone and just a small look at all of Dennis' toys! THANKS GUYS!

Need a reason to go to the 2027 Tri Five Nationals? Project neXt will be given away to a lucky participant at the show in Bowling Green next August! Golden Star Classic Auto Parts supports this effort and is a DACC sponsor and it would be fantastic if this '57 came home to Texas like the 2026 Giveaway Car did! Get your ducks in a row and plan to be in Bowling Green next year!

2027 is the 70th Anniversary of the 1957 Chevy, and we are celebrating by building a tribute to the famous Project X, arguably the most famous ‘57 Chevy of all time.

From magazine covers and Hollywood movies, many hot rod dreams started with this car. So, we decided to create Project neXt. A tribute to the past, present and future of the ‘57 Chevy.

Our club's 50 years of '55-'57 Chevys has been 50 years of a lot of fun with these legendary Chevrolets. Since 1976 DACC has been all about the Tri Five Chevy and only about the Tri Five Chevy. Showing, racing, driving, working on them - it's all about enjoying these cars we love - like this photo from one of our events in 2006.

A big congrats to club member Mark Billington who could usually be found cruising around in his '56 Chevy on this beautiful weekend but instead was in action at the Texas Motorplex at the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals in his 2023 Camaro alcohol Funny Car. Competing in the ultra tough Top Alcohol Funny Car class he qualified # 8 with a solid 5.46 @ 265 mph in a 16 car field full of the nation's best of the class. Billington made it to the semi finals before being defeated making for a great weekend for the team. Club members will get to see that car and Mark's full shop of classic cars this weekend when DACC has a Garage Crawl! Taking another trip back in time in the club's 50 years, this one looks to be about 1979 where we had a 'tech meeting' at club member Gil Thomas' Exxon station at the corner of Arapaho and Coit (station is long gone), the phrase 'Happy Motoring' is very appropriate considering what fills the shop bays!

We continue to relive memories of 50 years of our club, and we go back to 1991 and another club member (of many) that had their Tri Five Chevy featured on the cover of the Classic Chevy World magazine - B.J. Bucher and his beautiful '57 Chevy he built that featured a Jaguar rear end, Chevy Impala front disc brakes, a Wayne Calvert built small block Chevy with a 1965 Corvette Fuel Injection unit among many other upgrades and improvements!
