This year’s design pays tribute to the 250th anniversary of America, carved into a larger-than-life cornfield inspired by George Washington crossing the Delaware! 🇺🇸

The Sunset Bay Astronomy Festival is returning to Sunset Bay & Shore Acres State Parks (near Coos Bay) for a 3-day event from September 10th through 12th!
Whether you want to peer through massive volunteer telescopes, experience daytime solar viewing, or take guided hikes along the cliffs, this is one of the unique park events in Oregon.
🔭 FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS:
• Daytime Solar Viewing (2 PM): Safe solar viewing with special telescopes at Sunset Bay & Shore Acres.
• Nightly Star Parties (8 PM): View deep-space objects through high-powered telescopes at Shore Acres Garden!

The brightest beacon on the Oregon Coast is officially shining again! ✨After nearly five months of darkness, the historic Heceta Head Lighthouse is back in motion!

The beacon went dark when staff noticed severe wear on the mechanical gears rotating its massive 10-foot Fresnel lens—requiring custom bronze parts crafted right in Eugene to get it spinning smoothly again.

If you’re heading to the coast this weekend, it’s the perfect time to plan a stop and see this iconic piece of Oregon history back in action!

📌 QUICK LIGHTHOUSE FACTS:
• First Lit: 1894 (over 130 years of history!)
• Perched High: Sits 206 feet above the Pacific Ocean on a 56-foot tower
• Strongest Beam: Visible up to 21 miles out to sea

Great news for Oregon Coast lovers—Hug Point is officially REOPENED just in time for Labor Day weekend! After a 10-month closure, the popular state park south of Cannon Beach has reopened its gates following major infrastructure improvements, fresh paving, and beach access repairs!

⭐️ FRESH PARK UPGRADES
• Smoother Parking & Access: Freshly paved lot with improved traffic flow and increased parking capacity.
• Better Drainage: Upgraded drainage systems to limit runoff affecting the beach.
• Restored Beach Access: A short-term stairway fix is officially in place so visitors can safely reach the sand again!
🌊 WHAT MAKES HUG POINT SPECIAL:
• Waterfall & Caves: Explore a seasonal waterfall right on the beach and natural sea caves!
• Historic Stagecoach Trail: Walk along the historic wagon wheel ruts carved right into the rocky point.
