This 1970-S Washington Quarter was struck on a gold planchet, weighing 8.3 grams—right around the weight of an 1898 $5 Liberty Head. Talk about a Mint Error Monday.

Proof coin errors are rare due to the amount of quality checking they endure, making this piece exceptional. It just sold for $120,937 at GreatCollections Coin Auctions.

In 1799, the United States Mint was underemployed and, essentially, an afterthought to Congress. Yet, it was still able to make 423,515 specimens of its Draped Bust Dollar. More than two centuries later, this one survives.

In PCGS MS66, it sits at the top of the PCGS population and just sold for $299,250.

The 1858/7 Flying Eagle Cent is the only overdate in its series, garnering huge collector demand—but it’s easy to miss.

Want to know if you have one? Look for an obverse die chip, a broken wingtip below the F in “OF,” and a right tip of a 7 on the right of its date. If you’ve got these, you might have found a grail worth 16 times the value of a regular 1858 Cent.

This medal depicts the 18th president of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. Minted circa 1872, the year Grant was renominated for president, it is one of an estimated eight to have been made in silver.

In PCGS MS63, it last sold for $14,460.
