What happens when the people you're told not to listen to grab the mic? 🎙️
Throughout the record, Tee Slaves imagines alternate realities and fictional institutions as a way to examine real-world questions surrounding representation, political influence, addiction, privilege, and public empathy. The track draws attention to disparities in how different communities experience and respond to social crises while asking audiences to reconsider who gets heard, who gets protected, and whose struggles become national priorities.
"'ME TOO' isn't about making people comfortable," says Tee Slaves. "It's about creating space for conversations that many people would rather avoid. Protest music has always challenged listeners to examine the world around them, and this record continues that tradition."
The release follows "ATTENTION HUT," a record centered on Black empowerment, resilience, and self-determination. Together, the songs form part of the upcoming project Connected, which explores identity, vulnerability, justice, community, and personal transformation through a blend of lyricism and social commentary.
Known for blending activism, journalism, and music, Tee Slaves continues to use art as a platform for dialogue, reflection, and cultural critique. With "ME TOO," she invites listeners to engage with difficult questions about America, race, and the future of collective progress.
