This cultural, educational and historical center is owned by the Town of Colonie and supported by the Friends. The Friends of Pruyn House is a corporation which was chartered by the New York State Board of Regents in 1983. The organization is tax exempt under federal and state law. The mission of the Friends of Pruyn House, in partnership with the Town of Colonie, is to restore and conserve the Pruyn House Complex as an educational, cultural and social center. The Friends of Pruyn House, through the Board of Trustees and staff, support the Complex. The Friends plan and fund programming, special events, insurance, newsletters, and improvements and furnishings for the Complex. Funds are raised through a membership program, grants, and fundraising events. The Town of Colonie contributes funding for improvements, services, utilities, salaries, and maintenance of the grounds.

Join us at the Pruyn House for a series of Stay and Stitch evenings, beginning this Thursday from 5:30-7:30. We'll gather in the parlor, and return the space to some of its original uses: socialization and handiwork! Bring your current project, be it needlework, sewing, scrapbooking, or something else (as long as it is portable and won't make too much of a mess in our historic home)! Looking forward to seeing you then!

The Friends of Pruyn House and the Town of Colonie invite you to Meet the Curator, a talk and reception on October 15th, 5:30-7:30pm in the Pruyn House Parlor. You'll learn about Jessica Nelson’s PhD research, which worked to define what a Dutch identity looked like in the 17th century and how that identity translated to the colonies of New Netherland and St. Eustatius, hear about her prior work in museums, and see what her plans are for the Pruyn House. If you can't join us in person, you can register for the Zoom talk, happening concurrently by scanning the QR code in the poster! Please RSVP if attending in person, so we have enough seats and snacks, by calling: (518) 783-1435 or emailing: [email protected]. Hope to see you then!
