Indy PopCon is a pop culture convention that has been held at the Indiana Convention Center since 2014. Indy PopCon came to public recognition on November 18, 2013 when they launched a campaign on Kickstarter with an initial funding goal of $12,000. Funding was successful, with $16,584 being raised by 135 backers. The inaugural Indy PopCon was held on May 30–June 1, 2014.[1][2]

Indy PopCon 2015 was held June 26–28, with attendance increasing.[3][4]

It is with profound sadness that we are conveying the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. He will always be remembered as our captain, our favorite professor, and our look inside the mind of Shakespeare.

His activism for human rights, anti-domestic violence campaigns, global refugees, veterans' mental health, and animal welfare showed us what we can accomplish when we work together for the betterment of the world.

We were invited to attend the new Indiana Convention Center expansion into Georgia Street, complete with major speakers, and ribbon cutting. We apologize for the odd camera angle and the need to "zoom in", it was very well attended, and our original camera position had a wall of people standing in front. Several good words by all the powers that be, and a quick walk of the new promenade at the end of the video. Indianapolis continues to impress!!

Happy International Podcast Day!

Happy International Podcast Day! 🎙️

Here are 5 fixes that make any show better starting this week.

Whether you're on episode 1 or episode 300, these cost little or nothing:

1. Get the mic closer. Most "bad audio" is just distance. Keep your mouth about a fist's width from the mic, and your show instantly sounds more professional.

2. Start with the best moment. Don't open with housekeeping. Lead with the funniest, sharpest, or most surprising 20 seconds of the episode, then roll your intro.

3. Write episode titles for strangers. "Episode 47 with Mike" means nothing to a new listener. "Why Indie Filmmakers Should Start a Podcast" tells them exactly why to press play.

4. Clip it or it didn't happen. Most new listeners find podcasts through short video clips, not directories. Pull one 30–60 second moment from every episode and post it.

5. Tell listeners to do ONE thing. Not "like, subscribe, rate, review, follow, and share." Pick the single action that matters most right now and ask for only that.

Bonus: send your favorite podcast a quick note today telling them what you love about it. Creators remember those messages for years.
