We're back with the final FW Fringe Friday of 2026 - ! The FW Fringe starts today!

Each Friday leading up to the 10th Annual International Fort Worth Fringe Festival - we’ll be highlighting one of the 9 performing act of the festival.

The final highlight is a new act to the FW Fringe - OneOff Theatre from Fort Worth, TX and their production of PERPETUAL STEW.

PERPETUAL STEW

What do we force ourselves to swallow and why? Old ideas, old vegetables, old values, old meat. Forever soup, perpetual stew, or hunter’s stew was a staple food in medieval times, described as rich and deep. In this story, two men in a time and place that make no difference to anyone make the best of a situation with a dash of laughter. Written and performed by Paul Heyduck and James Warila with music by Joe Rogers.

MUJERES SIN MIEDO

Mujeres Sin Miedo is a new spoken word ensemble comprised of Latina poets and performers—based in DFW and founded/directed by Tammy Melody Gomez. Mujeres Sin Miedo had their debut performance as an ensemble of seven women for SparkFest at Amphibian Stage Productions in Fort Worth in June 2026.

Members of this exciting ensemble have previously performed as professional actors on many DFW stages, including Artes de la Rosa, Teatro Dallas, Cara Mia Theatre, and Latino Cultural Center in Dallas. Several of these women, as visual artists, have had work featured in exhibits in galleries such as Kinfolk House (FW), Oak Cliff Cultural Center, and Latino Cultural Center.

Each ensemble member is a creative writer and most of them have published books of poetry or individual poems in literary journals. As dramatists, several members have participated in devised theatre projects and developed their own performance monologues.

To lift up her voice and speak her truth is what 21st century women increasingly are doing: to dispel the darkness of lies, to bring awareness about how women live and think and love, and to let others witness how we find joy in the celebration of our lives—no matter the struggles and hardships we might have faced. Mujeres Sin Miedo bring their poetry to the stage, with song, hand drumming, movement/dance, passion, and humor.

Latinas are having their say, and it feels good to hear them share their exuberant words of wisdom and witness.

On the night his mother comes over for dinner, David is determined to prove he can finally make it on his own. In his first apartment—complete with carefully set table, flickering candles, and a simple meal he hopes will impress—David has planned the perfect evening.

But as the night unfolds, small cracks begin to show. Old habits, unspoken fears, and the quiet presence of their inner thoughts reveal just how difficult it is to redefine a lifelong bond. As mother and son navigate expectations, independence, and the fear of letting go, a burnt grilled cheese sandwich becomes the center of a deeply human moment neither of them anticipated.

Tender, heartfelt, and quietly powerful, Grilled Cheese is a story about growing up, holding on, and the courage it takes to let go—on both sides of the table.

In the near future, a handful of loyal users of Optimal, the world’s most trusted AI life app, are invited to an exclusive focus group. Over the years, Optimal has become everyone’s go-to source for advice, helping people make decisions about careers, relationships, health, money, and just about everything else. At first, the meeting feels harmless, even celebratory. But as the participants begin sharing their stories, they realize they all gave up something important because Optimal told them it wasn’t the best choice: a dream career, a relationship, a move across the country, a chance to start over. Then they discover something even stranger. There was supposed to be a sixth participant in the room. Company records show he attended. The others vaguely remember him. Yet no one can clearly recall his face, his name, or what happened to him. We've highlighted a number of our performing acts in our posts, but we're changing things up as we approach the festival.

Appearing for the first time at the FW Fringe is Olivia Geron and her piece "kNOw."

This work is inspired by the anatomy and function of the heart and explores the development of shape and gesture using initiations from specific body parts.

Originally from El Paso, Texas, Olivia trained and performed with Ballet El Paso, Compañίa National de Danza in Mexico City, MX, and as a principal dancer with the Montgomery Ballet. Olivia attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where she graduated with a B.F.A in Dance. She received her M.F.A. in Dance from Texas Woman’s University.

Olivia is allergic to conformity as she finds it chokes honesty. As a dance artist she seeks to free the restraints that codified forms of dance techniques can sometimes harbor by creating spaces for experimentation at the intersection of anatomy and improvisation.
