YES—She’s right.
I owned my home before I got married.
But once we married, any equity gained became marital.
In my case:
• Home value at marriage (2005): $300,000
• Home value at divorce (2022): $384,000
• Marital equity: $84,000 → split 50/50 = $42,000 each
BUT—
I negotiated using other marital assets he spent, and I fought for what was mine.
And I KEPT my home.and he did not get a Penny
