Artist Feature ⭐️ Julie Nolen

Nolen is a Texas-based singer-songwriter whose music blends raw storytelling with the grit of rock and roll. Born under the wide open skies of West TX, her songs carry the dust of desert highways and the resilience of those who call them home. A proud voice in q***r country, Julie brings authenticity to a genre rooted in tradition, proving that country music is for everyone. In 2025 and 2026, she was an official SXSW artist, showcasing her dynamic live performances after releasing her highly anticipated EP “Levi’s and Leather”. Nolen is currently in studio recording the follow up due out 2027. Whether playing intimate acoustic sets, or leading a full band, Julie delivers music that is as honest as it is powerful. Little bit moody, little bit soulful country, a little in your face, unapologetic, and bold.

Julie is the founder of OUTlawpride, starting in 2021, wanting to bring q***r voices to the main stage and in front of ears that may not seek it out. While OUTlawpride started as a festival in Austin, it has grown across towns, states, and now includes a video series of in studio performances and a recording label for q***r roots music.

Julie is on at 5:45!

Look Ma! We’re gonna be on the radio! 📡📻

We here at OUTlaw LOVE our community radio stations! So you can imagine how thrilled we were when host of WXNA FM “Ear to the Ground” DJubilee asked us to come on the radio and talk about the Q***r Roots show! We are gonna be bringing two of our performers, Creekbed Carter Hogan and Chloe-Beth to come play some songs from their newly released albums and OUTlaw Founder Dad Julie Nolen will be chiming in over the phone to talk about the history and importance of Q***r Roots. Listen in live on your old fashioned radio or on your new fangled internet box at wxnafm.org

WXNA is a freeform, listener-supported radio station created by and for the community to provide diverse and innovative programming that reflects the music, culture, concerns, and interests of Nashville and the surrounding area.

Artist Feature ⭐️ Chloe-Beth

Chloe-Beth is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, known for her blend of indie-folk and Americana music. The Oklahoma native’s debut EP, aptly named Familiar, sees her balancing personal storytelling with a universal sound, crafting songs that invite listeners into a world that spans from soulful vocals and twinkling acoustic melodies to ‘90s adjacent guitar riffs and edgy red dirt instrumentation—a Mazzy-Star-meets-Lucinda-Williams for the digital era.

We have Chloe- Beth at 2pm!

Artist Feature ⭐️ Creekbed Carter Hogan

The music of Creekbed Carter Hogan (he/they) is a quiet act of defiance made at the end of your rope.
Armed with compassion, curiosity, and a rollicking sense of humor, Hogan has charmed audiences across the USA and the EU/UK, honing their performance and craft as they’ve shared stages with other fan favorites like labelmate Nick Shoulders, Emmylou Harris, Big Richard, Willi Carlisle, and Olive Klug. By deftly weaving stories of transness and a religious upbringing through Appalachian picking patterns and working class themes, they’re able to unite the most unlikely of audiences together by the time the lights cut out.
Hogan’s songs have always achieved the rare feat of braiding the personal and the political as a means of bringing people together. Now, with their second studio album PEASANTS REVOLT (out with Gar Hole Records in 2026), Hogan hones their trademark poetics and traditional fingerstyle to present a medieval-Americana manuscript of apocalypse and everyday survival. Defined as “an album for the people” by NPR’s Ann Powers and “one of the most important albums of the year” by Rainbow Rodeo’s Rachel Cholst, one thing remains clear: that there is always more to learn, and more work to do to get there - but whether it’s a 14th century riot of peasants, a 20th century miner’s strike, or our modern-day hell, PEASANTS REVOLT was made to help us sing for our supper so we can reclaim a better world for ourselves.

Artist Feature ⭐️ Marian Runk

Marian Runk’s music “honestly and humorously reflects the ambiguities of being a fallible human.” Two Wires and a Spark, Marian’s 2024 folk album with a vintage jazz and country feel, garnered press from Rainbow Rodeo, The Chicago Reader, and The Great American Folk Show, and explored themes of loneliness, (mis)communication, grief, addiction, and vulnerability.

Though Marian has been writing and singing since early childhood, when she penned her first tragic love poem and was the sole target of her family’s “no singing at the dinner table” rule, she first picked up a guitar in her thirties.

Artist Feature ⭐️ 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐤 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 • 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫

Jaimee Harris’s sophomore effort Boomerang Town marks a bold step forward for this country-folk-leaning singer-songwriter. It is an arresting, ambitious song-cycle that explores the generational arc of family, the stranglehold of addiction, and the fragile ties that bind us together as Americans. As a person in recovery, Harris has had to re-evaluate her own connection to faith and find strength in a higher power. It was from the intersection of these social, personal, and political currents that the album was born.

While themes of addiction and grief permeate sections of the record, it echoes hope in the face of the darkness. Boomerang Town understands that love and grief are two sides of the same coin.

Jaimee on at 12!
