Most septic systems are built around a house. This one is built around 1,000 people on a Saturday.

We just finished the design for a baseball complex in Bosque County. The fields are packed on weekends and empty all week, so the system holds the weekend flow in equalization tanks and meters it out evenly over seven days. The treatment units get the same steady flow every day, and the spray field only runs between midnight and 5 AM.

25 years later, we remember.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the families whose lives changed forever, and the service members who answered the call in the years that followed.

As a veteran-owned business, today carries a meaning that is difficult to put into words.

Had a commercial project come across my desk this week. Preliminary drawing, rough numbers from the owner, nothing built yet.

Ran the wastewater flow. Came in about 50% over what a septic system is legally allowed to handle in Texas.

Here’s the good news: they asked early. Nothing’s drawn final, nothing’s poured. They’ve still got options — adjust the program, split the property, or go a different route entirely. All of that is on the table because the question got asked at the concept stage instead of after.

That’s how it’s supposed to work.

If you’re planning something commercial on septic, run the numbers while the plan is still a sketch.

Not every project starts with a blank sheet of paper.

This one was all about planning for the future while making today’s system work.

Instead of designing a brand-new wastewater system, we developed a phased master plan around an existing commercial OSSF. Each phase adds only the components needed at that point in construction, while ensuring the entire system is already engineered for the property’s ultimate buildout.

That means every future tank, treatment unit, pump, spray zone, and piece of infrastructure has already been considered. As the facility grows, the wastewater system grows right along with it—without having to redesign everything each time.

Good engineering isn’t just solving today’s problem. It’s making sure today’s decisions still make sense years from now.

Not every septic design is straightforward… and this one definitely kept us on our toes.

This project involved designing a wastewater system for multiple residences, multiple shops, existing structures, reserve areas, floodplain considerations, neighboring wells, and future expansion, all while making sure every setback, hydraulic calculation, and TCEQ requirement was met.

On paper it may look like a bunch of lines, but every line has a purpose. A project like this takes a lot of planning, problem-solving, and attention to detail to make everything work together properly.

These are the kinds of projects we enjoy—finding solutions where others see obstacles.

Every project is different, and commercial work definitely keeps us on our toes.

We’re currently designing the wastewater systems for a new commercial complex with multiple warehouse buildings. Even though they’re all on the same property, each warehouse gets its own system designed specifically for its expected use and wastewater flow.

There’s a lot more that goes into these projects than most people realize. It takes careful planning, hydraulic calculations, and making sure everything meets code while still allowing room for future growth.

It’s projects like this that remind us why every design should be done right the first time.

Today is about spending time with family, enjoying the freedoms we sometimes take for granted, and remembering the people who made those freedoms possible.

Sometimes the rules and the property just don’t work together.

When replacing a failing septic system, there are required setbacks from water wells that we have to follow. But on some lots, meeting those distances simply isn’t possible. In many cases, we can work with the county to request a variance that allows a safe, properly engineered solution.

Every situation is different, but our goal is always the same: get our clients a reliable system while protecting public health and staying within the regulations.

A lot of people think a septic system is just a tank and some pipe in the ground, but there’s a lot more to it than that.

Every property is different, and a good design takes into account the soil, elevation, drainage, and how the system will actually perform over time. Getting it right from the beginning can save a lot of money and frustration later on.
