Fannie Moffitt Autumn STOMP Mark your calendars! FMAS '26 is coming! OCTOBER 10, 2026
10-5
ALTAMONT, TENNESSEE What is the Fannie Moffitt Autumn Stomp? Is there an admission fee? No.

The Fannie Moffitt Stomp is festival celebrating Altamont’s heritage

Why is it about Fannie
Moffitt? While it is not exclusively about Fannie Moffitt, she was one of Altamont’s most colorful and recognized citizens. Just her name alone creates a curiosity that will intrigue and draw people to Altamont to see what it is all about. What kinds of activities will be going on? All we can say is, if you can’t find something to enjoy its your own fault! There will be, a breakfast, cruise in, arts and crafts, tours, games, genealogy/museum,music, quilt show, skits starring some of Altamont’s most beloved characters. At the end of the day there will be dancing (the stomp) to celebrate Altamont’s Scots-Irish, native American roots. AND you might even see the old girl Fannie herself running around town! Breakfast will be $5 under 12 free, and there will be
donation boxes in several places., but it is our desire that your dollars will be used to support local artists, crafters, and civic organizations.

Good evening, everyone! Whew, now that I have dried off, I am working on processing refunds for cancellations. I should have them processed tonight, but it may take a few days for the refund to get to you as it has to go back through the same system it came through.

Thank you all for bearing with me while I re-arranged and put us all under roof. I know you guys work hard to produce and transport your items and we wanted to make sure you had an opportunity to sell them. I hope you all did well, as we had quite a crowd! I tried to get around to everyone to thank you for sticking it out. If I missed you, just know, it was only because I got stuck somewhere else. Please take this as a thank you!

I also want to thank the vendors who have reached out to me to donate their booth fee back into next years FMAS, we appreciate you guys so much.

Keep an eye our for the Hay Structure that should be going up after this system has passed through. Also, don't forget the Halloween festivites that will be coming at the Woodlee House!

See ya next year!!

Thanks again - Shala

Dont forget, we do have cars driving folks between the areas, just go to the front door of the building youre at.

10/10/2026

Its wet out there, folks!

Since the best laid plans are just plans, we are working. If you cant get me on messenger, call or text me if you need some assistance. 931-581-7105

Also, we will have "shuttles" between the different events to help with foot traffic. They will stop by every building every few minutes. If you need one and dont see one, give it a few minutes or call me, ill send one your way.

Vendors: be mindful of the aisles and borders of your booth space. We are tight in there and we need to make sure that everyone can get through.

Lets get to Stompin!

10/10/2026

Please please please. If you are a vendor and are not planning on coming, I really need to know. I have about 20 vendors that I need spaces for. You will get your booth fee back. Also, if you would be willing to split a booth space with someone, I will give you both half your booth fee in return.

The weather actually looks like it may behave after about 7 am, so you do still have the option of an outside space.

That being said, if you have not paid your booth fee, you have not been placed in a spot.

Thanks guys, we are doing our best to accomodate everyone!

Did you know.......

Before she was the eccentric “Miss Fannie” remembered for her hats and her fortune, Fannie Moffitt was a little Altamont girl who lost her father when she was only three.
She grew up in the Northcutt home with her mother, “Miss Tim,” while her uncles Jim and Tom operated the family's general store in town.
And Fannie did something that would have been notable for a young woman of her era: she went to college.
Fannie graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, then eventually came home to Altamont—the place where she would spend most of her life and become one of the town's most unforgettable characters.
Long before the fabulous hats, the fortune, and all the stories that followed, Fannie was one of ours.

I know you know that it's only 5 DAYS to go, but did you ALSO know?

Fannie Moffitt had a reputation around Altamont for being rather... careful with her money.
In fact, stories about Fannie's frugality became almost as much a part of her legend as her hats.
There was definitely one expense where Fannie wasn't going cheap.
When Fannie died in 1955, local history records that she was buried in a $7,500 COPPER CASKET.

Seven. Thousand. Five. Hundred. Dollars.

In 1955.

For a woman remembered for pinching pennies, Miss Fannie certainly wasn't planning on leaving this world in the economy model.
Today, Fannie rests in Altamont Cemetery, just a short distance from the house where so much of her story took place. The Stomp's historical hayride even includes her grave among Altamont's historic stops.

Five days until the Fannie Moffitt Autumn Stomp — and apparently Fannie believed you could take at least a little of it with you. 😂
