Celebrating Khowar Literature

We are proud to share that “Orai,” a Khowar fiction collection authored by Farid Ahmad Raza and published by FLI, has been awarded by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL), Islamabad.

We deeply appreciate PAL’s decision to recognize literary works in lesser-known languages and warmly felicitate the author, Farid Ahmad Raza, on this achievement.

FLI remains committed to supporting publications in the languages of northern Pakistan, ensuring that diverse voices and stories continue to thrive.

FLI’s Workshop on Saraiki Subject Teaching Concludes in D.I. Khan

FLI successfully completed a 3-day training workshop for government school teachers in Dera Ismail Khan, focusing on Saraiki subject teaching. Certificates were awarded to both participants and trainers, recognizing their dedication to strengthening mother tongue education.

Held at M***i Mahmood School & College in collaboration with the Directorate of Professional Development, Peshawar, the event brought together principals, district education officers, and local dignitaries. Speakers praised FLI’s efforts to empower teachers and promote linguistic diversity. The representative from DPD, Mr. Munier Ali Shah distributed the certificates.

FLI’s Workshop on Saraiki Subject Teaching Starts in D.I.Khan
FLI has launched a 3-day training workshop for government school teachers on Saraiki subject teaching in Dera Ismail Khan. The event is being held at a government school in collaboration with the Directorate of Professional Development, Peshawar — a wing of the provincial education ministry — with the goal of strengthening teachers’ capacity, especially in mother tongue education.
Saraiki is one of the four regional languages included in the KP government’s school curriculum. However, the lack of teacher training has slowed the implementation of this policy. FLI has been stepping in to bridge this gap by enabling teachers to teach effectively in their mother tongue.
A total of 50 teachers — half of them women — are attending this workshop. The same number of teachers (including equal participation of women) were trained in the last quarter of last year, and another 50 teachers are planned for training later this year.
This initiative marks another important step toward empowering educators and preserving regional languages through quality teaching.
