FLI Supported Writers’ Workshop for Gawarbati Language

FLI, in partnership with Al‑Qalam CBO, organized a three‑day Writers’ Workshop in Arandu Village, Lower Chitral, bringing together 20 participants — schoolteachers, university students, poets, and writers — to strengthen Gawarbati writing.

The event also saw representation from the Gawar Adbi Board. Participants appreciated FLI’s efforts and called for more such initiatives to promote mother‑tongue literacy.

Gawarbati, spoken in the border villages of southern Chitral, has a long tradition of writing. FLI has supported its development by improving the writing system and publishing community‑authored materials. Today, it stands among FLI’s highly documented target languages.

This workshop is another step toward empowering the community to express themselves in their native language. FLI remains committed to continuing this support in the future.
