Let's continue the journey through the history of 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 in Baarlo.

We have started exploring the photo archives from 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟎, the very first edition of ProgPower Europe in Baarlo. Looking at the line-up, several names immediately stand out:

𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐘, still going strong today and returning to perform in Baarlo on several occasions;
𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐇, a band that needs no introduction and has since become one of the leading names in progressive metal;
𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑, featuring 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧 on lead vocals, who has gone on to build an extraordinary career.

The line-up was further completed by 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐬, 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐚, 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, and 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐪𝐮𝐞.

Among the photos, we can spot 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘳 𝘑𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘯 (𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳), 𝘔𝘪𝘬𝘢𝘦𝘭 Å𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘥𝘵 (𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘩), and 𝘛𝘰𝘮 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘥 (𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘺).

Do you have photos from past editions of ProgPower Europe in Baarlo?

Do you have a great anecdote or memorable story to share?

Or perhaps you have ideas that could help turn our book into a truly unique collector's item?

Please send them to 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨@𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫.𝐞𝐮. We'd love to hear from you!

The first band confirmed for ProgPower Europe 2027 is here: welcome Benthos!

Hailing from Milan, Italy, Benthos combine progressive metal, mathcore, post-hardcore, jazz fusion and psychedelia into a sound that is uniquely their own.

Following their 2021 album II, the band released their 2025 album From Nothing. Since then, they have been taking their music across Europe and the UK, winning over audiences with their energetic live performances.

We are excited to bring Benthos to our stage as the first confirmed band for ProgPower Europe 2027!

OK, this is going to be fun.

After our first post about the upcoming ProgPower Europe book, we’ve already received the first emails with photos and short anecdotes. And now we thought: why not start sharing some of these photos regularly?

We’re also considering creating an online space for all submitted photos, because we won’t be able to include everything in the book. But we do want to show as much of our shared history as possible.

Do you have photos from past editions of ProgPower Europe in Baarlo?
A great anecdote?
Or ideas that could help make this book a truly unique collector’s item?

Send them to [email protected] — we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll keep posting photos from our history, not only of the bands, but especially of you, the visitors who made every edition unforgettable.

Part 1 features photos by Bert Treep, Marcel Slaman, Sigitas Velyvis and Erik Paulsen.

This year we celebrated 25 years of ProgPower Europe at Sjiwa Baarlo.

From the very first edition at Sjiwa Baarlo in 2000 to the milestone we’ve reached now in 2026 — Sjiwa has been our home, our community, and the place where unforgettable memories were made.

To honour these 25 years, we’re creating a special book filled with stories, photos, and personal memories from every edition. And yes — that includes all the legendary moments at Kasteel de Berckt, “The Castle”, where friendships grew and after‑parties became tradition.

👉 Pre‑order the book and get a 15% discount. (see news section on the website)

👉 Got a great story or amazing photos? We’d love to include them. Just send us an email ([email protected]) — your contribution can become part of ProgPower history.

Let’s make this book a true collector’s item together!

Some bands just get it. Take The Dear Hunter , for example. They plan a European tour — and since they don’t do that very often, of course they pick the big, iconic cities. You know, the usual suspects: Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Prague, London…

And then suddenly, right there in the middle of that list… BAARLO (NL).
You can’t tell me that isn’t fantastic.

Thank you, The Dear Hunter, for trusting us and once again putting Baarlo in the spotlight as the 'Prog Metropolis' of Europe. We’re proud — and honestly still smiling about it.

So glad we could make this happen!

Our longtime visitor Erik has once again claimed his traditional spot: he’s the very first to publish a long review this year. Some traditions never fail — and this is one of them. Curious what he thought of the festival? Check out his review on erikprogtricolor.blogspot.com.

Still recovering from yet another fantastic weekend in Baarlo? So are we.

ProgPower Europe 2026 was truly unforgettable — the atmosphere, the community, the music, and yes, the incredible weather certainly added to the magic. That part is out of our hands, but let’s hope the weather gods treat us kindly again next year.

Meanwhile, work on the 2027 edition has already begun. Because of course we want to make it even better, if that’s possible at all. No bands announced yet? Correct. But our philosophy remains unchanged: a strong and diverse line‑up within the progressive rock and metal scene. Established names, fresh discoveries, rising talent — exactly what you expect from us.

And don’t forget: only today you can still get a 20% discount on your weekend ticket. So don’t wait too long — grab your ticket right away. The next edition is already shaping up to be something special.
