York Environment Festival is back for 2026, and will return for its seventh year from Saturday 3 October – Sunday 1 November 2026.

There is officially one month left until the start of YEFest 2026!

This year's theme is future generations and how we can take action towards more sustainable and resilient ways of living and working.

We have a wide variety of events in store and can't wait to see you there!

You can still submit an event to York Environment Festival 2026, but we can no longer guarantee a place in the print programme.

You can continue to submit into August - however after today we will no longer be able to guarantee you a place in the printed programme.

You can submit after this date - we just cant guarantee you a place in the printed programme.

If you have an idea for something that will inspire, uplift and engage more people in York to protect local nature, increase biodiversity, reflect on their environmental impact and build a more sustainable city, we want to hear it.

Completed in the last few weeks, this booklet is a guide for everyone who lives in and cares about York.

Inside you can find information that will help you live a healthier, more sustainable and connected life in the city. You can also read inspiring stories of people and organisations who are already making York a better place – and find out how to join them.

We know that the guide will inevitably be incomplete, and we make no claim that it is definitive or exhaustive! Our sincere apologies where we have missed things out.

A massive thank you to all the groups, organisations and individuals in York who provided information for the guide, and thank you to the National Lottery for funding the costs of the graphic design and printing.

We were so happy to have a stall yesterday at the first York Youth Climate Conference - Our Planet, Our Future - held at the University of York's STEM Learning Centre.

It was wonderful to meet with passionate young people and community organisations.

Thank you to Rachael Maskell for organising such a great event!
