2018 sees the 250th anniversary of the oldest florists’ society in the UK, the Ancient Society of York Florists. To celebrate this, York
is digging out the history books and calling on all green-fingered people and creatively minded individuals and businesses in its midst, to create a festival with a difference. will be a city-wide festival for everyone. A festival with an ambition to engage with its residents, its businesses, its 6.9 million annual visitors. A festival for adults, for children, for hipsters, academics, foodies, style seekers, history buffs. For those who love gardening, those who can’t keep a cactus alive, those who wish that they could! For those that love York, that love to see York looking its best and for those that want to be involved in putting York on the horticultural map. Based over four days, the festival programme will include workshops, one off, small-scale events; large-scale, ambitious installations; community initiatives; legacy projects; and everything in between.
