If you have not had a chance to see this yet, it is absolutely worth checking out.

Through our Cornish language residency with Endelienta Arts and Cornwall Council at St Endellion Church, composer Matthew Thomason began work on Arlodhes a Shalott alongside Cornish translator Elizabeth Ellis.

The project went on to become a stunning Cornish language song cycle inspired by The Lady of Shalott, later winning the Arwen Award at last year’s Gorsedh Kernow.

Now the piece is returning to St Endellion Church, where parts of it were originally composed.

Last week one of our Trustees, Jowdy Davey, attended a visit to the Buttermarket by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

We had the chance to talk about our work supporting Cornish culture, and especially our festival in Redruth. We even got to give HRH a taste of what you can enjoy at the festival with some music from Jen and Toby!

We’re incredibly proud to call Redruth the home of our festival, standing alongside so many brilliant organisations helping the town to thrive again.

Redruth’s revitalisation has culture, heritage and innovation at its heart - proud of its Cornish identity, its international networks, and with a wealth of fantastic spaces and places for cultural activity.

After a fallow year, we’re excited to be bringing our Celtic festival back in 2026. More very soon!

Splann to hear Leigh Frost mention the cultural exchange between Cornwall and the Isle of Man at the Interceltic Business Conference. We’ve got this covered at Lowender Festival with the tune exchange between Cornwall Youth Folk Ensemble and the Manx group Scran.

Lowender Festival programme and early bird tickets launch this Friday 1st May at 00:01am.

Sessions and Sail have six fully-funded places for folk musicians to join one of their Scottish voyages for free, including food, accommodation and musical tuition. 🌊 🎶🪕🎻🪗

The bursary is designed to support folk musicians who might not usually have access to an experience like this, with a particular focus on young people aged 18–25 and those from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Each trip combines hands-on sailing, expert musical tuition and nightly music sessions while exploring Scotland’s stunning coasts and islands.
