📢 CALL FOR ARTISTS – NOW OPEN!

Kowethas an Yeth Kernewek and the Horizon Europe REVIVE Project are inviting artists and artistic groups to take part in creative collaborations in Cornwall (UK) and Puglia (Italy), exploring new ways to celebrate and revitalise endangered languages and cultural heritage.

📍 Cornwall | £4,100 contribution
⏰Deadline 13th November 5pm

From visual arts and music to performance, poetry, photography and digital art, different creative disciplines are welcome.

Selected artists will collaborate with local communities to develop original artwork to be presented at REVIVE exhibitions and festivals in 2027.

Hedhlow an Mortidys ~ Tales of the Tides

Our Tales of the Tides project is a collaboration between the Federation of Old Cornwall Societies, Callington, Saltash, and Torpoint Old Cornwall Societies. It explores people and their connection with the Tamar. Throughout the year there are walks, talks, memory days, workshops, mummers play, exhibition and much more. It is funded under the PSNM Blue Sparks initiative.

The Plymouth Sound National Marine Park Horizons project has been made possible thanks to money raised by National Lottery players with £11.6 million of funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Lowender 2026, what an awesome weekend!

From incredible concerts and joyful dancing to family fun, shared tunes and late-night kazoo chaos, there was so much to love. We felt Redruth Community Centre made the perfect new Redruth home for Lowender, and we hope you felt at home there too!

Here’s Lowender in numbers, alongside a sneak peek at some of the incredible photographs taken by Perran Tremewan. Look out for more over the next couple of weeks!

Behind those numbers are months of planning and more than 800 hours of volunteer time. We’re still finalising the accounts, but even with over £5,000 in funding, we expect to just about break even.

Even if you come mainly to play tunes, buying a ticket matters. Providing welcoming spaces, bringing artists together and creating that festival atmosphere all cost money. Every ticket bought and every purchase at the festival bar helps make Lowender possible and keeps free and affordable activities available.

A huge meur ras to our funders, Redruth Town Council, Scoops Art Charity, Redruth Charity Trust and Buttermarket.

Thank you to our festival sponsor Penzance Brewing Company to Verdant Brewing Co - Brewery & Taproom for the cans, and to Penventon Park Hotel for their support. To all our venue partners (The Ladder, Rose Cottage Redruth, Redruth School, Cornwall Centre For Culture and The Arts CIC), volunteers, artists, stallholders, heritage contributors and everyone who bought a ticket, joined in or supported the festival bar: you helped make it a weekend to remember.

The 'Youth Tune Swap' is underway today with a fantastic cultural exchange between young musicians from the Isle of Man and Cornwall!

At Redruth Community Centre from 13:30 – 15:30, there will be a Cornwall Youth Folk Ensemble mash up with Scran!

The Cornwall Youth Folk Ensemble is a Lowender led venture with ASONE, launched in the summer of 2024, aiming to create an ensemble celebrating distinctly Cornish Celtic music.
