The Vale

The Vale In the foothills of the Peak District, The Vale is a former textile mill converted to a state-of-the-art venue for all kinds of creative happenings.

If it’s live performance you’re after, The Vale hosts a variety of music, theatre, dance, and cinema throughout the year. This space is also used by our resident Carnival arts organisations to develop new productions and artists as part of our Northern Carnival Centre for Excellence. Our mixed-use and specialist studios are also a hit with visual artists. All our spaces are available for hire and we would love to welcome you to our growing family of creatives that call The Vale home.

Check out these brilliant makes recently at Crafty Saturdays with Martha!

It's Refugee Week this week and Crafty Saturdays will be taking inspiration from the Dove, an international symbol of peace and unity. We'll also be able to see the beatiful textile banner 'Embracing Difference', completed in our Wednesday Welcome sessions for inspiration.

Crafty Saturdays are every Saturday 10am - 12.30pm, a free family friendly art club.

Summer Drummers! Are you aged 14-25* and interested in music and drumming?

Join us for some FREE summer holiday drumming sessions here at The Vale in Mossley.

You don’t need any experience and all drums are provided. This project actively encourages local young people from Micklehurst and Carrbrook, Mossley and Tameside to take part. This project is free and travel costs (with a valid ticket receipt) can be reimbursed.

Come to Sunday Sessions tomorrow Sunday 14th June from 1pm – 4pm in our venue space. Our special guests for June is Bay Bryan! This is the final one before we have a break for the summer.

Known for his transportive, story-driven songs and cabaret-like flair, Bay is currently working on his second concept album BAYARD—a kaleidoscopic soul-infused follow-up influenced by a wide range of artists like Amy Winehouse, Anaïs Mitchell, Labi Siffre and Stevie Wonder.

As always there's live music from our house band bringing chilled Brazilian and Latin vibes.

Chap hop beckons! Mr.B The Gentleman Rhymer will be in da house on Saturday 14th November with his Probably Accurate Hip-Hop History Show!

We're delighted to say that the amazing Gideon Conn will be supporting.

Equal parts rapper, banjolele maverick, storyteller, beatmaker and dandy, his ‘Probably Accurate Hip-Hop History Show’ is packed with interpretations of rap favourites and original songs. It will amaze with previously unknown facts, stories, fly dancing and maybe just a bit of guessing.

We’re delighted to announce legendary drum master Steve White of The Style Council, Paul Weller, Trio Valore and more is coming to The Vale with his new band, promoting his latest album ‘Soul Drums’ (Acid Jazz Records).

Steve White came to fame as drummer with The Style Council, appearing on the majority of the band’s recordings throughout the ’80s, touring the world, and appearing at ‘Live Aid’ in 1985.

Steve White has also appeared live with Oasis and The Who.

Volunteer with Dancing Threads, a new Global Grooves project! Are you interested in local history, heritage and community storytelling?

Join our Oral History Volunteer team and play a vital role in preserving dance heritage in Greater Manchester.

Volunteers will receive training from the Oral History Society on Sunday 14th June here at The Vale in Mossley . We still have a number of spaces left.
