Chew Valley Country Music was started in 1994, with the first regular night on Saturday 20th November, with the band ‘Stroller’. For almost 19 years, the club has featured many of the top British Country Artists, mainly fully live bands, coming from Scotland to the south coast of England. On most anniversary nights, and occasionally during the year, the night has in the past been given over to cha
rity, and over the life of Chew Valley, the total raised for the various charities has been estimated at over £10,000. The current organisers, Lynne and Trevor have been running Chew Valley since March 2006, taking over from Keith and Glenys. In February 2007, the club moved over the road to Greenfield Conservative Club, where it still is today. The Concert room holds about 120 people, with a very friendly atmosphere, and new faces are always welcomed. There is a licensed bar and a dance floor in front of the stage, and there are normally Hot Beef butties on sale during the interval. The artists are mainly bands, up to 6-piece on occasions, and events are normally held on the Second Saturday of every month. Tickets are not required except on the occassional special night, admission is normally £4.50, with children admitted free.
