🎃 DAY 31 OF 31 DAYS OF HORROR 👹

🎬 The Exorcist (1973)

Directed by William Friedkin

For our final recommendation of 31 Days of Horror, we’re ending with a film widely regarded as one of the most terrifying horror films ever made. The Exorcist is a chilling descent into the supernatural that continues to haunt audiences decades after its release.

When 12-year-old Regan MacNeil begins exhibiting increasingly disturbing behaviour, her mother, Chris, desperately searches for answers. As medical explanations fail to account for what is happening, she turns to two priests who believe Regan may be possessed by a demonic force. What follows is a terrifying battle between faith, fear and an unimaginable evil.

With its deeply unsettling atmosphere, groundbreaking practical effects and powerful performances, The Exorcist pushes the boundaries of psychological and supernatural horror. It’s a film that explores the limits of faith and the darkness that can take hold when all hope seems lost.

As we reach Halloween, what better way to close out our 31 Days of Horror than with a true genre classic? Thank you to everyone who has joined us, shared recommendations and celebrated the films that make this time of year so special.

👹 Is The Exorcist the scariest film ever made, or is there another horror film that deserves the title?

🎃 Happy Halloween from all of us at Fear Screen! Stay spooky, stay safe and keep watching horror!

🎃 DAY 30 OF 31 DAYS OF HORROR 🔪

🎬 Halloween (1978)

Directed by John Carpenter

Some films define a genre. Others become the blueprint for generations of horror to come. Halloween is one of those films.

Fifteen years after murdering his sister, Michael Myers escapes from a psychiatric institution and returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois. As Halloween night unfolds, he begins stalking babysitter Laurie Strode and her friends, while Dr Loomis desperately tries to track him down before it’s too late.

With its haunting score, atmospheric cinematography and relentless sense of dread, John Carpenter’s Halloween helped shape the slasher genre as we know it. Michael Myers became one of horror’s most iconic villains, a silent, emotionless presence whose slow, deliberate movements are every bit as terrifying today as they were in 1978.

It’s a masterclass in suspense, proving that sometimes the greatest horror comes not from what you see, but from what you know is lurking just out of sight.

🔪 Is Michael Myers the ultimate slasher villain, or does another horror icon take the crown?

🎃 DAY 29 OF 31 DAYS OF HORROR 📼

🎬 V/H/S/94 (2021)

Directed by multiple filmmakers, including Simon Barrett, Timo Tjahjanto, Jennifer Reeder, Ryan Prows and Chloe Okuno.

Found footage horror takes a disturbing turn in V/H/S/94, the fourth instalment in the V/H/S anthology series. When a SWAT team raids a mysterious warehouse, they discover a collection of videotapes filled with horrifying footage, each revealing a new nightmare.

From grotesque experiments and sinister cults to terrifying creatures and disturbing supernatural encounters, each segment delivers its own unique brand of horror. With its grainy VHS aesthetic, unsettling imagery and relentless brutality, the film captures the raw, chaotic feeling of discovering something you were never meant to see.

V/H/S/94 is a brilliant choice for fans of anthology horror, offering a collection of twisted stories that keep you guessing about what nightmare is waiting on the next tape. It’s unpredictable, unapologetically gruesome and packed with moments that are difficult to forget.

📼 Which V/H/S segment has left the biggest impression on you, and are you brave enough to watch them all?
