Our first festival merch! 💚 Rooted Textiles project bags made in collab with She Also Makes Stamps.

These bags are made from 100% GOTS Certified Organic cotton and each is hand printed in Fife, Scotland by local Stamp Carver and Printer Kim of She Also Makes Stamps.

Kim is also the owner/maker of Leaf Natural Food Wraps producing hand-printed and hand-made wax wraps, bread bags, and other sustainable household products.

We’ve loved working with Kim to bring our new logo to life and to create a natural unique souvenir for the Rooted Textiles festival. We hope you love these project bags as much as we do!

Our first ever festival pattern! Designed by Lizzie Forbes for Rooted Textiles 💚

We are delighted to share a festival collab with the lovely Lizzie Forbes 💚

The Kindred Roots Wrist Warmer Pattern designed by Lizzie Forbes will launch at our 2026 festival.

About the wrist warmer design:

“Kindred Roots explores the strength and connection found within community. Intertwining ‘roots’ in the design represent a sense of belonging, anchoring and security, while motifs inspired by seed dispersal – sycamore seeds, dandelion seeds and conkers – reflect the sharing of ideas and knowledge, and how support is carried through community.”

Lizzie is a champion of Scottish wool and natural dyes and we are delighted to launch our first ever festival pattern with her. This knit really is autumnal, connective, and a project for all, and what we at Rooted are all about 🍁 thank you, we love it, Lizzie!

Lizzie Forbes is a Scottish Knitwear designer creating contemporary accessories inspired by the landscapes and native flora of Scotland.

A recent graduate of Textile Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, her work combines Scotland’s rich knitting heritage with a thoughtful approach to sustainable, lasting design.

Not long till Rooted and a big welcome to our three speakers this year who are sharing their journeys and practice in natural fibres and textiles!

Taking place in Madderty Hall Conference Room, and each lasting 30-40 minutes, these sessions are the perfect chance to pause during your day and delve deeper into textiles:

At 11.30 Lara Tikunova of Wool Naturally will share her journey from consumer to conscious creator: how she is crafting a natural fibre wardrobe by hand and her experiences in the grounding and healing benefits of making her clothes.

At 12.35 Alyson Chu, founder and publisher of Moorit will give a behind the scenes look at what goes into making this indie crochet magazine, from mood boards to selecting designs, all with a focus on wearable, modern garments made in natural fibres.

At 13.45 Brandy Godsil will share how she creates custom garments and tailoring for major performances and red-carpet events with a focus on sustainable fashion design methods and experimental practices including weaving, natural dyeing, eco-printing, felting and embroidery.

Please note that these are ticketed sessions within the festival. Please make sure you also purchase a festival ticket to access these sessions.

If you have already purchased a festival ticket and would like to join a talk session, you can book talk tickets now on our website, no booking fee, and we’ll collate these with your festival ticket.

Who remembers the delicious GF chocolate brownies by Hazelnut’s Catering at the festival last year? ✨ we are delighted Hazel is back this year and will be keeping us all fued throughout the day in the festival cafe! With choices of soup, filled rolls and traybakes to purchase including GF options. Hot beverages available too. ✨

Hazel McFadzean is a Perthshire beef farmer’s daughter, born and bred, which means she was fortunate enough to grow up in the stunning Perthshire countryside surrounded by fresh, local Scottish produce. All ingredients used by hazelnuts catering are sourced from trusted long-term suppliers, and Hazel is passionate about using locally sourced ingredients in her dishes wherever possible.

Meet Leaf Natural Food Wraps at Rooted Textiles ✨

Leaf Natural Food Wraps Leaf Natural Food Wraps ™️ is a one-woman enterprise based in Markinch, Fife, producing hand-printed and hand-made wax wraps, bread bags, and other sustainable household products. Owner/maker Kim carves her own linostamps and prints all of the fabric by hand making each piece unique.

Meet festival organisers Perthshire Wool at Rooted Textiles ✨

We farm a 500-head flock of breeding ewes near the villages of Madderty and Methven in Perthshire, Scotland. We offer a range of traceable yarns grown with care and dedication made from quality fleeces from our flock and local farms.

Our yarns are botanically dyed with plants we grow in our garden or gather from the local countryside, such as woad, coreopsis, nettle, bracken and dock. What we can’t use for textiles we make into a natural fertiliser and soil conditioner so no wool goes to waste. We also offer knitting kits and natural UK-made yarn and fibre accessories.

From raising our sheep to shearing and preparing wool for bespoke bases and blends, our yarns are full of the character of the sheep that produce them, and each colour a trace of nature’s palette from soil to soil.

We are delighted to be delivering the Rooted Textiles festival again this year and look forward to welcoming everyone to Madderty soon.
