Very sad news

A Nottingham Goose Fair legend passed way this week. This was announced on Nottingham Cockerels Instagram page

“It is with immense sadness that we must inform of the passing of our most beloved Ray Brooks.

He passed away on Wednesday 21st October 2026, just shy of his 96th birthday.
He was a Father, Grandfather, Nottingham Legend and a friend to all whether you knew him for a little or a long time.
Our hearts go out to his family at this difficult time. We are so glad to have known him and are truly thankful to carry on his legacy. He will be greatly missed.”

Many will have fond memories of seeing Ray on the top row of Nottingham Goose Fair with his world famous C***s on Sticks stand. He attended the fair himself for over 70 years before retiring in 2023.
