A couple of changes to the Four Rivers Folk Club Schedule. Firstly the wonderful Wickenwood have had to cancel their headline act on the 11th November due to one of their members undergoing surgery. I've rustled up The Junkyard Dawg Jugband to perform that evening as a replacement. I will be giving Wickenwood a headline act later in 2027 and I'm wishing them all the best.
Secondly , our outing on the 23rd December which would have been a headline for me and friends ( friends??? an exaggeration surely!). Anyway I've thought this would be better used as a Celebration dedicated to our recently departed friend and musician "Paul Pullin". Paul's band "The Badmen" will be selecting the performers.

A reminder that our Special night this month on Thursday 29th October will be a celebration of the wonderful Dolly Parton. We will have 7 acts performing 4 songs each. Live acoustic music not backing tracks and karaoke but real live playing and singing. 7 ladies with different styles. It'll be fun..and entertaining.

Next Four Rivers Folk Club coven is meeting in Wednesday 28th October and we will have Elry Blue as our headline act.

Trust me...well ....maybe not, but they are fantastic.

ELRY Blue are an energetic, powerful blues/country Duo made up of Noel Gander, Guitar Vocals Harmonica & Gary Choules, Double Bass, Brush Pad & Shi-Tam.

The Duo draw upon inspirations from the likes of Hank Williams, Big Bill Broonzy and Tom Waites.

They take well-chosen covers along with a number of self-penned tunes to create a driving rhythm whilst keeping in touch with the original soul of the music.

Their aim is to Chill the Spirit and Rattle the Bones.

Support that night will be Peter Crossley, That Blue Patch, Hardcore and Rubble, and Peter Hart....so far there's more enough to satisfy tastes.

Well folks I thought I'd better let you all know that Peter Crossley and myself will be performing at Beam this Tuesday the13th October at 12:30 pm. Also there will be the superb North London duo "That Blue Patch" with great musicianship and wonderful songs. It'll be a great show. Hope to see you there.....now back to working out a set list.

Ok then folkies and similar Roots followers. First post for the next Four Rivers Folk Club. We're very pleased to welcome back Jess Brett as our headline act and she will be more than adequately supported by That Blue Patch, the3 Badmen, Jayne Thomas with James Watson and I may get a few in too.

Here is some musical information on Jess....

"As a child, Jess could often be found with headphones on, leafing through the liner notes of Sgt. Pepper's by The Beatles.

Once she was given a guitar, she quickly realised that music would be her passion.

After fronting the roots rock band "The Huxleys" on bass guitar and lead vocals, she has now settled into her own songwriting career.

Jess produces passionate and soulful music that will speak to fans of artists such as Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos."

So what's not too like....as the nights are fair closing in...Four Rivers Folk Club is a great place to be.....hope to catch you there!

Another busy night coming up on Wednesday 23rd September.

Our headline act will be a very welcome return of Kelvin Davies and Chloe Turner. Supports will also be welcome returns of Peter Crossley, South of Polaris, The Merry Men (including 2 women) and Pass the Buch.

‘Kelvin Davies & Chloe Turner are rooted in beautifully harmonised voices and intricate guitar work. Tapping deep into the history of acoustic roots music and delivering sounds from a past time, expect to hear stunning versions of songs by folk legends such as The Carter Family, The Delmore Brothers and more, as well as wonderful self-penned material. Their EP, ‘Some Songs That We Like’ is certainly one to be on the look out for!’
