After LUCKY TOOTH COLLECTIVE recent amazing and well curated exhibitions at Atlas, my dad kept saying how much he’d love to see my uncle Geoff’s artwork up on our walls too. And I think it’s only right that we shine a bit of light on his incredible work!
So, THIS THURSDAY (6pm ish), we’re incredibly proud to be hosting an exhibition celebrating the work of my uncle, Geoff Humphreys, a hugely accomplished artist whose remarkable career has taken him from Grimsby School of Art to the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts in London, and far beyond.
Geoff studied at Kingston upon Thames Polytechnic before completing his postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy. He later continued his artistic education in Athens.
Over the years, he’s collected an extraordinary number of awards and scholarships, including the Richard Jack Portrait Prize, the Creswick Prize for Landscape Painting and the Richard Ford Award, which took him to Madrid to study Spanish art.
His paintings have been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Christie’s, the Mall Galleries and the Fine Art Society on Bond Street, amongst many others. His work has also found its way into collections across the world, from Canada and America to Greece, Australia and South Africa.
And now, here he is, exhibiting in Cleethorpes!
The collection currently hanging at Atlas is a beautiful mix of landscapes, coastal scenes, still life and wonderfully expressive paintings. There’s something really captivating about the colours, the light and the atmosphere Geoff manages to capture.
One of our ambitions for Atlas has always been to create a space that celebrates creativity in all its forms. Music might be at the heart of what we do, but art, poetry, photography and the wider creative community are just as important to us.
To have an artist with Geoff’s experience and achievements exhibiting here is a genuine privilege.
