A nice bit of news for Phoenix Nights fans — several members of the cast are heading back to the actual club where the sitcom was filmed for a special live show.
As part of the 25th anniversary tour How Far Away Are They? – An Evening With The Cast Of Phoenix Nights, Toby Foster, Steve Edge, Janice Connolly, Archie Kelly and Neil Fitzmaurice will be appearing at St Gregory’s Social Club in Farnworth, near Bolton.
Fans will of course remember them as Les, Alan, Holy Mary, Kenny Senior and Ray Von.
What makes these dates a bit more special is that St Gregory’s was used as the location for the Phoenix Club itself, so the cast will literally be returning to the place where so many scenes were filmed.
Toby Foster said going back there will be completely different to the rest of the tour because of all the memories tied to the building. He said he expects plenty of forgotten stories from filming to come flooding back once they walk through the doors again.
The live show gives fans a chance to hear behind-the-scenes stories directly from the people who were there, with broadcaster Chelsey Ward hosting the evening.
The two performances at St Gregory’s will take place on 15 November at 2pm and 6pm.
It’s hard to believe Phoenix Nights first aired 25 years ago, but going back to the club where it all happened feels like a brilliant way to celebrate it.
